Holy crap i can't believe i'm already back in the tavern...i was hoping to have at least a couple months before my next visit, but clearly that's not going to happen. So here's the trouble: So it's been a little stormy here, which i quite liked since i love the rain and what not. HOWEVER! My window was open a small amount, and the wind seemed to have pushed the water in through my window, and onto my laptop. Now, i've spilt the occasional liquid onto my computer but managed to clean it off in time and still have it function perfectly, but i wasn't home for this, so the water soaked into my computer, and killed it to a point where my power button doesn't do a freakin thing I may have to end up buying a completely new computer, which i suppose was one of my original goals, but i didn't want to have this be the reason why. I am slightly fortunate that my distrust for built in harddrives has lead me to buy external hard drives, which were safely out of the way of any water that flew into my window, so i haven't lost anything important except a small amount of school work which was also backed up on a USB flash drive. Sure all my games are gone, but those can be reinstalled if i ever figure this thing out, and my computer's hard drive is still intact. Not a huge loss, but i won't have a computer for a while so i have to borrow either my parents, or use the one at work. At least i still my warhammer i can paint.

Yep water and electrics don't mix, I did a similar thing at work I was working in an equipment room that as yet hasn't been commissioned and hence no lighting I had doors open at each end of the building as it was windy and wet outside, I hadn't noticed at the time that whilst working away the wind and rain changed direction and a rather large cabinet full of state of the art electrical equipment had become drenched, we dried it as best as we could and then left it to dry out naturally, fingers crossed it hasn't had any adverse effects. Hopefully that will be the same for your laptop time will tell.

Bummer m8... i've had a few lessons in back up in my time, thankfully you've been a bit better prepared... as Tim says, let it dry out naturally with the battery out and you may get lucky
