Not a bad base for a staring point, base look alot better when given some thought. For further projects try elevating the mini onto raised areas, bases that have different levels tend to be more interesting to look at and can really make a model stand out. That last comment was rich coming from a guy that uses only resin bases these days and never makes his own lol.

I like it, SC. The river and the grassy part looks good. The tree looks a little out of place, just because the river and grass look more "natural" to me.

Scenic bases definitely give a great look to a miniature. The river looks very good and suites the miniature very well. The tree maybe a little too small in comparison to the scout, but it might as well be a baby palm. On a quick painting note: the cloak is particularly well painted on the back!

Nice job matey, looks a little too staged for my tastes, but for a 1st go, it's turned out well. I too am a bit lazy nowdays and tend to lean towards resins, but then that's all Tim's fault!!!!
I like the idea of levels on a base, plus mixed grasses for a more natural (yes natural, and from an old school boy) look, with maybe some froth at he banks and around the rocks to show the water moving. Always hated those placcy trees, there's so many lovely premade trees you can buy.
All in all a great 1st go, keep going and trying different settings and items. It's a lot of fun, I had great fun doing my tavern inside and outside.
