I finally managed to get something done this year. I entered it over at the WaMP forum in their Wyrd contest and was fortunate enough to nab 2nd place. I was quite pleased with the basing--the railroad track, satchel, and soulstones were all scratch built. As always, don't hold back on the critiques!

Looks ace mate....eyes glow nicely, rust is perfect, crystals look good, and is that a sneaky peek at NMM, but done with metals and shading....you cheeky boy?

I like that alot and a well deserved 2np placing. The red robe contrasts well with the cloth around the head and the glowing eyes finish the effect off nicely. I think I can honestly say that this is one of your best to date.

You would be correct, sir...I tried to really push the contrast on this one. The base was metallic and then shaded first with Devlan Mud and then a (long) series of Badab Black over and over until the underlying metallic was gone. The strong highlights were done with VMC metallic medium, thinned and applied over the basecoat. Thanks again for the compliments. I agree, this one is definitely my best to date.

Great mini, and great painting and perfect blending. Totally agree with the others! Did you sculpt the bag with the jewels? It looks marvelous!

Congratulations on the 2nd place mate - just saw it on the homepage at CMON, I thought you'd have it posted it here so I could see it. I really like the sword and the girder rusting paintjobs look fantastic. Good colour choices on the robes which work well together. I find the blue crystals are drawing my eye down a bit more than they should, but then the magnificent sword suddenly says "Hey look at me!" and corrects my lazy eyes hehehe.
Well done again Jabberwocky.

Did you sculpt the bag with the jewels? It looks marvelous! I did. I am not much of a sculptor--this bag has been my "biggest" project to date. The bag was made from plasticard, greenstuff and a bit of an empty tube of toothpaste cut to size for the handle.

The bag is cool, I would have cut the strap alot thinner though if you compare it to the width of the girder it does look a little wider than it possibly should be, but it doesn't really detract anything from the whole - just a thought.

No, now that you mention it, it does look a bit out of sorts. Thanks!
