First of all my apologies for the vague title, but in lack of anything better this is it. I was wondering how you paint parts of a model that you attach after painting. For instance if you have a loose arm that you cannot paint when it's glued to the model, because it's difficult to reach. My question is how and where do you attach the loose part to make painting easiest?? I've been trying some Blu-Tack and with pinning it (though that's difficult if the part is thin), but so far I've not yet found a great solution.
Do you have some suggestions? Thanks in advance!

A pin vice is the way to go, I usually drill a hole in the relevant part and then reverse the drill bit dab a touch of superglue to it and the place the reverse end of the drill bit into the hole, let it set and away you go after placing the bit back in the pin vice that is.

Yup, that's what I would do. I have also drilled the hole, then pinned it with a paper clip or whatever you pin with. Keep the pin long and stick it in a wine cork and you are ready to go. Once the piece is done, snip off the pin where you like and pin it like you normally would.

Using a pin vice is a good way to go but if the part is very small I super glue the part to a cocktail stick or wooden skewers they use for kebabs. The peice comes away quite easily afterwards and just need a knife to clean the area before glueing it back. Also use the kebab sticks for the main parts if they are plastic

Thanks you guys! Using the pin vice to hold the parts really helps. I bought some thicker paperclips as pins and they fit into the holes perfectly. Can't wait to paint using this method!

Yep best and only way to go, and if you don't have a spare pin vice then bend a paper clip into a little stand, and blu tack onto an old paint pot. The rest is as Tims described.

I just use an old piece of cut off sprue and superglue it. Depending on the part you man also be able to leave it on the sprue and touch up afterwards.
