Taken a little away from Xmas and all the relatives and such and finished off a long ongoing project of mine. My Dwarf World Tavern from Olleys Armies. Throughly enjoyed every moment of building and painting this and yes there are a few things I'd do differently next time......like not use stupid shrinking air drying clay.....but live and learn. Plus I went over to TimC's for a painting day and did this Hasslefree Dwarf with Axe. Back to commission painting now.......

That mate is fudging ace, I have been waiting to see the tavern finished for ages and it was well worth the wait. Also the little dog that you painted yesterday at mine is ace and really helps to set the scene. If you wanted to up the realism a bit more you could wash some dirty brown shades into the floor tiles and then wipe them over to simulate grime in the joins but to be honest it doesn't really need it. The dwarf again is top notch I liked it yesterday and I have not changed my mind. Congrats all round mate.

Wow--fantastic stuff, Bru! Funny how these labors of love can bring out the best in us, eh? I'd agree with Tim on the floor tiles; just a bit of an additional color to add some visual interest.

Cheers guys.
The main reason for the plain as can be floor was so it didn't distract from the colourful minis themselves, I had toyed with the idea of a black and white checked floor, but gave up for that reason.

Great atmosphere you created! It looks very dwarfesque. Good contrast with the inside and outside of the tavern. I really like the 'pavement'.
The colours are very balanced, but I agree that the red floor is a bit off. Maybe too red, but that could be the picture?
May I ask what is the company of the miniatures and the scenery?

I'll answer for him, he got the Tavern through Ollies Armies site but the scenery is actually from Old Crow Models who so alot of scenic stuff some of it is really nice like this one for example.

Sorry for not answering straight away, spent the whole day yesterday suffering with a migraine. The tavern is indeed old crow stuff bought from Olleys Armies.
The floor inside is supposed to be like the red quarry tiles you can get nowdays, and has been washed with brown wash to simulate some of the grubbiness a tavern floor would get. It's slightly darker IRL but not by much.
I know for a fact that Bob at Olleys Armies would appreciate any orders you may all make as this difficult financial time .

Dawrves, Dwarves! I love them especially when sculpted by Mr olley! Like the rest of your olley minis these are superb and you have really given each character the attention they desverve. and the whole diorama is very living and has a great atmosphere about it (not sure if its a correct expression in english?, but I think yuou know what I mean.) Like a few others have mentioned the floor looks a bit clean an so do the rocks on the path outside the entrance, but thats nickpicks really.

Really bright colours and everything is well defined - especially the faces, lovely jubbly.
