hi all, this is reapers 54 mm monique de noir, it is my second attempt at painting her and i'm still not happy What i'd really appreciate here is some bad criticism! If there is something that you even remotely feel is not right, be it colour choices, rendering, surface finishes etc just give it to me hard, i'll take nothing personal!! but i'll consider everything to improve this beauty... ...ideas also welcome

Overall looks good mate, I'm not sold on the bluey white on the arm and ribs, it looks good on the loin cloth bit, but just distracts me on the other bits.

Nothing else on it for me mate, absolutley love the flooring, and the red and gold work lovely on the armour.

Let's see...I love the base--very well done and quite convincing. The skintones on the face are lovely and I think the OSL is great. The skintone on the breasts doesn't come across as well, although I think that is a function of the photograph washing out cleavage a bit.
It seems to me the armor in general could use some more highlighting and shading. The reds are well shaded, I think, but seem to have a slightly different reflectivity which seems a bit off. The boots (at least on my monitor) look to have been taken up closer to white, registering a more "metallic" object. The shoulder pad, though, doesn't seem to be as bright, suggesting more of a leather appearance to me. The golds as well appear relatively uniform in some parts, particularly on the shoulder pad. I think the shading could be taken down a bit more in some spots. You nailed it on the leggings, but the right arm could use a bit more, IMHO. Another nitpick would be to smooth the blends a bit more on the gold portion of the shield (the downward part).
There you go--both barrels!

cheers sean, must say all these tips are going into practice! I reckon i became a little tone blind on this one at times, a case of overworking and under evaluating... the creative juices are a flowing, wish i could take a day of painting to do some painting! (sounds weird but it does make sense, honest guv

I really like it Dennis for me though I think the skintone could be a bit better defined with a few deeper shadows, not too deep but just enough to give her a bit more contrast. I do like that base too.

Oh yes, considerable improvement! The freehand on the shield is splendid! I like the red robes better than the blue ones. Not fully convinced on the red highlights on the hair though. Heading over to CMoN to vote now!

Woah, much much much much much better!!!!!!! Everything flows together now, and you can make out the glowing pendant straight away. Shield desigin is excellent and the subtle freehand on the cloak is perfect.
If you're still not happy with her, I'll gladly give a good home!!!!

Wonderful work, I am always amazed at how you manage to get the softness of tone and the smoothness of blends. Great to see another piece from you.

Thanks guys, I am happy with her now, the red certainly makes her stand out on the display shelf Didn't make 8.4 registered average but i'm well pleased at 8.3 (8.7 non registered but i don't rate it that much), makes doing better with the next a little easier ...and the next is, at long long last, Ithandir, my 1st andrea paint and so far i'm loving it

Going to sound a bit n00bish with this but...what do you mean registered average versus non registered? Is there a way to see the actual votes and a breakdown of how they were given?

It's just an extra score you get when you subscribe and get a wee star beside your name. It gives you the average rating players subscribed have given your mini... it also let's you have a readily accessible fav list.. i love that, and lookin at others!
