Finally! I can add some WIPs to the forum. I wanted to finish my ork, but I seem to have misplaced my metallic paints, so that will have to wait a bit. I started this high elf, that is meant to be used in a D&D campaign as a elf sorcerer. It's still very early WIP. It's a conversion consisting of many different high elf parts. Today I more or less finished the face (which is the hardest part for me, and I never get it right), but any critic is very welcome. And I hope to change it accordingly. I started with part of the skirt, to try out some colours. And somehow I've found myself being interested in space marine miniatures. So here is a shot at making a Dark Angel Terminator. Using pro-create to make some icons (stamping) and my first sculpt - a loincloth thingy (in lack of a better word). I'm curious to know what you think of my humble sculpting attempts. The yellow blobs are just meant to keep the parts in place temporarily.

Great start on the elf mate, the face and hem are well executed.
If you don't mind my asking, where did you get the goblin banger from?

Thanks! The goblin is a rackham miniature. One of the first rackham miniatures I bought and after that, I absolutely fell in love with their goblin range.

The wizard looks great so far. It's gonna look good when it's finished. The face is very nicely done. The terminator looks great. Good job on the sculpting. I can't really make judgment on the cloth (though it seems to looks nice from here), but i would much prefer to see it painted in order to really make a call on it, but for the most part it looks nice. Hope you enjoyed my little ramblings

The Elf is looking great at this early stage, the terminator is also looking good, the arm with the power fist looks odd though to me at that angle.

Found my metallics paint, so I could finally work on my ork again. The main body + head are practically finished, just some touch ups to do. Now it's time for the arms!

I really like what you have done with the browns and greens, Magie. My only nitpick would be the highlighting on the topknot is a wee bit stark for my liking.

Thanks you all for the comments. I really like that you see my progress Tim. Jabberwocky, I will fix the hair. You are right the highlights are too strong. The picture exaggerates it a bit, but IRL it's not a perfect transition either. Thanks for the feedback.

Could I be so bold as to ask what your Ork skin recipe is please as I fancy a change from the way I do mine. I've just picked up the ltd goblin fantasy footballer from SJB's Eolith range and feel that the tone that you have on your ork boy there would lend itself well to that.

Sure, no problem. It's mostly Vallejo Model Colour. Here is the scheme. There are some more transitions/mixtures between the stages, but these are the only colours I used. On my next ork I plan to use some browns as well, to deepen the colour.
2nd shade -- VMC Military green 1st shade -- VMC Military green + VMC Intermediate green Base -- VMC Intermediate green 1st highlight -- VMC Green sky 2nd highlight -- VMC Green sky + GW skull white
I especially like the Green sky colour. I don't think it has a GW equivalent. For the others I don't know. I think Dark Angels green and Goblin green could also be used. But the VMC intermediate green has a touch of blue (I think).
