Well I am going to apologise for this in advance but I am goping to say whqt I have to say because I feel so good about it.
to get the true feel of what I am feeling you would have to hear the whole story but that would be way too long in the telling, but this is a condensed version. About 6 years ago now I separated from my wife for reasons that I won't go into here, I then got invloved and eventually re-married to my lovely wife. During this time my contact with my children was stopped and I hadn't seen them until only a few weeks ago when right out of the blue I was asked if they could see me. Well I have to say that I am pleased as punch that I am now seeing them on a regular basis. Take today I was on msn and my eldest daughter logged in and started a chat, she told me she was not at school as the teachers were striking so asked her if she would like to come to my house for the day and after getting her mothers agreement we went and fetched her, I then spent the whole day with her introducing her to the world of mini painting, we sat down together and painted a Warrior of Mians Tirith from the LOTR range, I would do one stage and she would copy, mow bear in mind that before today she had never done anything like it at all. I kept it very basic and by the hometime she had completed the model. I had intendedto take a photo and put it up here but I forgot and she has taken the model home, but as soon as I can I will take a photo and put it here. What I will say is that I was astounded at how fast she picked it up and how much she enjoyed it. She has just turned 12 so she is starting out at about the same age that I did. Well I am learning again what a pleasure it is to be a father again.
Sorry for the ramble but I just had to share this with all my friends.

I can really appreciate what you are trying to get across tim. I myself split up from my first wife approx 8 yrs ago. It was terrible and destroyed me for a long time, but through it all I was able to see my children. I can only imagine how happy having contact with yours again is, congratulations Tim, having children makes a poor man rich.

Saw the story on CMON earlier, figured you'd post it here too. Decided to comment here to make it a bit more personal. I think it's great that you get to see your children again, and that you are connecting with your daughter so well. She couldn't as for a better painting teacher (or father from the sounds of it ). Congratulations.

Tim, as I said, love the stuffing out of them. My two are spreading their wings and preparing to fly away. Jen is engaged to a young man that went off to boot camp today for the Army. This time next year, the house will be emptier as will my life.

Wow...your daughter is very talented indeed! I am sure a great tutor didn't hurt.
I have always considered myself blessed. My parents have always been there for me (and still are) as well as my in-laws. No divorces, no terrible childhood tragedies. It hasn't always been picture perfect and rosy, but very solid and very loving. Now, in adult life, I have made it my mission to make sure my kids (i have 2) get that same blessing. I love children, and wish we could have more (the wife is having NONE of that talk LOL). It could be why all the neighborhood kids seem to want to hang out at our house.
This is truly a great story Tim...I can't imagine the happiness it must have brought you.

/thanks again guys, and Demi I will ay a big hi to her, we spent the day today at Warhammer World where we played games on the tables and had a good nose around the displays and then we came home and painted again where she painted another Gondorian from start to finish, just brilliant. At the weekend I will be taking all three of them out together if I could just get all three of them into the painting I could retire from it

Thanks to everyone for the warm replies, I tohught you might like to know that today I had the most wonderful day agan and as someone said I am indeed beaming from ear to ear, I picked my little girl up from home around half eight this morning and brought her to my house, we spent the morning painting and chatting she started her second only ever mini andwas more than happy to do that, then I told her we were going to the home of GW and where all this stuff is made and she just beamed and said "wow that is cool". So off we went, we spent a good deal of time just looking around the gaming hall and then in the museum, after that we went for a drink in Bugmans Bar and then into the store, while we were lookng around one of the staff came over and asked if we would like to play a game of the Mines of Moria, and we did and it was very good fun (even though I lost, that pesky Cave Troll took out two of my heroes in one go ). After that we came home and she finished the mini and was so happy I think she could have burst and so could I. Anyway I thought that I would put up a few pics of our day. Please excuse the big troll like image in the last pic, no that isn't a GW work in progress it is in fact me muahahahahah

Geeee, the thought of being separated from my daughter for more than a day actually scares me.Nonetheless live's not always what it's supposed to be, and separation between the parents is, imo, not the worst option. Lass's very interested what you're doing. What's her hobby?

Great to hear that you are reconnecting, Tim! I am in the process of a divorce myself, and we are trying to keep things as "normal" as we can for the kids sake.
As for your daughter's painting--she's got a good steady hand. I wish I could have painted that well starting out! She has got a lot of potential. Stick with your Dad, girl, he can teach you a lot about painting (and about life, too I expect).
