Evening guys, have been working on a few bits and peices recently, and this guy is one of em, one of the cool prizes I won during the last comp (thanks to Timbo!) working on the base at the moment, trying for a dark, sinister, dead fantasy feel. Now id like some quick feedback on the base so far and id like some help with choosing colours for the tree Now id like the tree to have a sickly, dead, chaos feel to it, but am not sure about the colours I should be using and id like to get some different views before id start. Id like the tree to be a dark brown and the sections where the bark has fallen away more of a dead grey colour, id also like it to contrasting with the base and the mini (which will be dark reds/browns) is it a case of using dark brown and grey, or should i be using some blue/green washes? any input would be appreciated! heres some ref pics so you guys know wot am talkking about

Glad you like the mini, so far the base looks ok can't really offer any useful critiques there mate. As for the tree I think the picture that is second from the bottom would be a cool look to try and achieve.

It's a cool mini one I painted ages and ages ago, and was fun to paint.

a bit of an update for you guys. been working on a more tanned skin tone, but it still needs some work, added some turquiose and blue glazes to darken the skin and tie it in more with the base. Iv had a bit of fun with his kilt, needs another colour to balance the pattern out though (prob ultramarine blue?), although, I advise you never to type in the word 'kilt' into a picture search engine... I still feel unclean. as for the tree, iv decided to score the bark into the milliput, i was originally going to paint the bark on, but i think it be easier to add glazes to the tree if their is some texture their first anyways, critique welcome

I am really liking this one, the tartan looks excellent as does the skin tone. I am looking forward to seeing this one finished.

Alrite guys, just a little update.. I would say the majority of its finished, all am looking to do at the moment is perhaps add some celtic or nordic tattoos on his chest, correct the mistakes in the pic and perhaps saturate the colours on the base a little more, their a little dark and subdued Dark

Looks very good--excellent job on the tartan and the bloody hand. How did you do the dripping blood effect?

the blood was a paint, tried a few things but i couldnt get the thin stands. then i found out that if u mix 2 part resin (i used solid water) then mixed some red/black inks into then leave it for 18hrs u cant get really thin strands, fairly easy nice effect!
not sure about the tats yet caveman, iv been looking at some simple tribal pattens that i can put across the chest. wotever they will be, they will be a dark greeny blue colour.
thanks fot the kind comments guys! appreciated
