i think I did a WIP-thread long ago but thought I start a new one now besides the one with my minidio "on the road to mordheim"... so here we go: first out is the Forge World Grot i've been working on while not fiddling with the mini-dio. there are some many layers of basecoat and in this stage I've started to do the first shading, a tiring process but when it starts to show it's kind of rewarding. there aint so much shadows on it as the pics shows, that's the lightning not getting right. comments are more than welcome cheers everybody

Good start--tough to comment much at this stage, but I like what I see!

looking good so far how do you like painting with white/gray undercoat?

thanks.
well I like painting on white/grey, kind of easy to get a smooth base coat, especially when working with lighter colors. and also I think it's a good way to spot all those detail and the missed mold lines and such. easier than when I've painted with black undercoat.
but in the end it's a personal taste whether to paint on black or white.

yep, solid base coat, wot colours are you looking at for the shadows and highlights?
i personally prefer a white basecoat most of the time, i think it lends itself to a more subtle approach and can be a little faster than black

well here it comes... long awaited pics on what I'm doing. @darkmessiah: sorry I haven't answered your question earlier, I will use (and are using) 3 colors for the skin mainly, these are; knarloc green (base coat, +mix shadow n highlight), orkhide shade (shadows) and camo green (highlights). on the SM helmet I've used Mordian Blue as a basecoat. enough of smalltalk here's the pics: Ork Warbiker Mob cheers

I have a advice for you You should use purple for the shadows of the green orc skin. This will give them a very nice touch!

Nice to see this thread back on track, Zap. Looking good at this point. I really like the pose. What is the little critter? At first I thought it was a nurgling. Are there baby squigs running about?

Looking great! It does look like a small, non-fat squig. Couldn't be a nurgling though, its not all disease ridden
