Hiya lads! So what is this about you ask? Well myself and Andre were having a chat over msn, where Andre mentioned he's in a painting funk. He has been finding it hard to get motivated to get anything hobby done at all, so being the kind hearted friend that I am, (self praise is no praise ) I said that I would help him out. So we hit upon an idea where we would have a little paint off, to try and get the poor lad back into the painting grove again. So after a quick stock check of both our model collections we hit upon a common mini to have a go painting. So at this very moment in time, I've made a start on this mini and will post my progress. Hopefully Andre will follow suit fairly soon, with even a little progress. *poke......... So here is the little guy, and what a chipper fellow he looks....... So as you can see early days yet, and I hope to update fairly regularly to keep the pressure on a certain swedish friend of mine. *poke The ball is in your court now Andre

Yeah come on Andre - start poking those paint pots again Yep nice idea, I fell into a painting slump a few weeks back, and after a looooooong chat with Bob Olley and a helping kick up the arse from Tim, I was soon back painting. It took a Texan Scrunt no less to start the ball rolling again.

Right I couldn't let you think that Andre was working away at his mini and I was doing nothing with mine. So to date I've done the basecoat on the gobbo's skin, using GW's Foundation Knarloc Green, to get a nice smooth colour. I then added orkhide shade until the ratio was about 50-50 orkhide to knarloc and tried to shade all the area's I thought would be darker........ So thats it to-date. I hope to get some more done tomorrow evening. I'm already finding this a learning process, as I'm beginning to regret not painting the base first as Andre has done. Well we'll see how it turns out this way.

Coming along nicely, Andre. I like the flesh tone and the blood from the mouth is a good touch.

Coming along nicely. I might suggest some more highlighting/shading of the yellow on the black and yellow pinstriped leg--definitely a nitpick there, but something that caught my eye. This is going to look great with the water effects added.

Whaaaaaaa?
When did all this work happen man?
You really have left me in the shade over the last couple of days with how much you have gotten painted! The base is top notch, really really nice. I think the water effect really worked well and you've presuaded me to get myself some.
The gobbo is looking great, I think he is such a characterful little guy that he is a breeze to paint, even then though you really did get him done fast! It looks like your guy is slightly brighter than my guy but you've done a great job.
I really must pull my socks up now but it seems that the whole reason for starting this project has worked. Your painting again!
