That's ok mate be as cheeky as you like, this is the place for it, and it shows that there is some interest in the contest as well.

OK...no laughing, promise? I have a slew of entries here. This thread has been quiet for a bit so I thought I would send out several ideas I have been working on to try and get the creative juices flowing. I don't claim any of these as my official entry (yet). Feel free to piggyback off any of these. One disclaimer: I am horrible at drawing, so these will look like they were done by my 6 year old son. The first idea was to make a mini with the Atlas idea--the greek myth of the man that carries the world on his back. I was thinking of an orc or ogre type figure with the world on his back. Second idea was similar to the first but to have an elven female laying on her stomach on top of the world with her head resting in her hands looking down at the orc/ogre with a bemused smile on her face. Third idea was to have a dwarf (although any humanoid would work) leaning against his axe, holding the world in his left hand as he gazed up at it. Next idea would be similar to the previous one, but to have the person (in this case a female elf) leaning against the world with her weapon hoisted up resting on her shoulder. The final idea I had was to have two figures sort of "bookending" the world. Both would have their backs against the world. One side would be a fantasy figure of some sort (again here a female elf) while on the other side a sci-fi figure (space marine-ish without breaking any copyright laws ). So there you go--I hope this inspires some people with their ideas (and I hope someone who can actually draw will take one of these and run!)

Thanks for putting these up I was beginning to think this comp was a dead loss. Hopefully this will inspire more of you to show your ideas/entries and will give us something to vote on come the closing date.

Interesting ideas Jabberwocky. I kinda like the first one with the orc the most. I'll have to get something done for this competition soon, I've got lots of ideas but I'm not sure which ones I should actually try developing into something.

Nice ideas, and I especailly appreciate that you published them even though you said you thought they are not that good drawings. I had a similar one, but I couldn't really make a decent drawing of it yet... I hope I get it done soon Your post gives me more hope that my drawings are not as hopeless as I thought

Ok, I've got a concept that I really like right now. I've got it sketched out pretty quick, I'll scan it and post it later. There are a few changes that I might make. Just a little curious, are we gonna be able to do things like different arm options, or head options?

Ok mate cool, as for the different arms and head options, that is something I didn't think about to be honest as the idea was to come up with a single unique mini but I suppose that it would not be difficult to alter the the concept to suit that. I will need to talk to Mick about that though to be sure.

Well, I've thought it over a bit and I've decided that I dont really want to have other heads and arms, it was just something I thought would make the mini a bit more marketable... I hope we start seeing some more pictures and entries soon.

Well there goes that concept... My idea was to have a futuristic soldier sitting on a half globe (or ruined rubble like globe) smoking, posed with one knee up and one hand on his gun lying next to him. The problem is every time I try a new idea for him he still looks like a cadian/karskin/stormtrooper from the GW line. I like the idea but I can't seem to get him to look different enough to make it obviously unique... If anyone wants to go with that concept feel free to try and make it workable.

Having my courage gathered, I post my concept, too He is supposed to be some kind of northern warrior, upper body naked, kneeing and holding a globe on his shoulders. His face is hard with sharp edges. His head is leaning forward, like suffering under the heavy weight. I tried to draw a helmet on his head, too. Umm, that's it

Ok, I got a new concept. Its in the works right now. I like it as much as the other one, I'm just hoping I can get the concept art to look close to how I'm envisioning it.

Holidays over!! Better get my finger out, it's wierd seeing ideas already out there that i had thought of but my latest is being kept now til 'judgement day' and what i've come up with is pretty much apocolyptic... good to see the site doing so well... a little tip... forget scanners.. do your drawing and photograph it... means you can draw A1 and reduce... may give the sculptor a sore head though:)

When is the deadline for this competition again?

Well I think this competition kind of die in the water as there was not too much interest in it. Also Mick is not often online now to talk about the sculpting/ production side of things so I think i am going to have to close this down and say thanks to all who took time on it but it is a no goer.

I think the concept for a competition is excellent but maybe the site is too young and we need a lot more entries... personally i don't like any of the ideas so far, including my own, and if a mini was to be produced i think it needs to be something really unique. Maybe if a mini was to be commissioned for the site we should have a brainstorming instead... proposing ideas and making mods like in a WIP.. not as a competition but for fun and to achieve something truly remarkable Anyhow i have no probs with the plug being pulled although i'm still trying to think of some original idea
