Made this WIP with a critical look at proportion and, as best as I can, thickness of limbs in relationship to the body. I think its pretty good but am unlikely to finihs it cause I have really no interest in the fig or expanding it into a range--if its not wearing armor its design doens't really interest me. I've got my eye on some Romans soldiers. I think people might be interested in historical figs without Foundry's blocky style (cool, but not necessarily realistic)

So is there any chance of this getting finished and cast? I reckon thats the best body you've done so far.
BTW theres a lot of Roman ranges out. Maybe you should try a different historical range, which hasn't been covered as much?

True, ORmans ahve been done many times but what hasn't been? I'd love to hear any suggestions of historical warriors they'd like to see which haven't been covered yet--I've been hard pressed to find some. I'd finish the Suoix but I don't think theres much interest for figs like this. I might do some Russians but ebob apparently has his eye on some and coming in conflict with him would not lead to good sales! Seriously any ideas would be much appreciated.

Y'know, those proportions are perfect! (or as near as dammit)Have you done Vikings? (I can't remember) They would be interesting!

Well, if you like armour, maybe you could try the Persians:

It is going to be quite difficult to pick something that hasn't already been done, companies like Foundry, Gripping Beast and the like have covered just about everything. how about Templar Knights?

I reviewed the lines of foundry and gripping beast who do Romans and I think I might stand a chance. These companys mass produce tons of sculpts and there lines are, while nice and cleanty sculpted, lack some detail and are rather off compared to what a real person would look like with enormous heads and hands, and squashed bodes and thick limbs. I still like the ranges--I used to use some mailed catalogs of foundry minis to get ideas for sculpts--but I think I might stand a chance at interesting some historical gamers looking for a different style. Ebobs sure not the first to do scotts but I'm sure he'll sell a ton. Anyway I'll get started on a legionary this weekend I should have some free time. When I finish I'll post pics.
On a side note I can speak a fair amount of Latin--rather useless to me but perhaps I will somehow find a way to incorporate it in a line of Roman minis (not likely...)
