Don't worry that will be a mistake with what I am calling them rather han what they are. These are standard issue GW round troop bases which I am modelling onto.

It's just an air drying modelling clay. It is cheap and sets hard. It does have shrinkage as it drys and so sometimes when fully dry it will fall off the base, then I just superglue it back on - same with any bits of debris I have attached.

Orc Nobs etc are gonna need 40mm rounds, are you up for that DR.E ? or should we think along the lines of what you have here and do our own (as there is much fewer 40 mms it may make sense just to scratch build them??!!))

Normal ok boyz use 25 mm, and so uses most of the normal man-sized minis (ork nobz, ork commandos, stormboys, stikk bommaz etc) Larger minis like the warboss, big mek and nob in heavy armour uses 40 mm bases. Killa kans and dreadnought use 60 mm bases.

These look fantastic!
If it would help keep casting and shipping costs down, I could knock up something similar of my own now I know what we are aiming for.

Great job on the bases. I'll hold off basing mine.

I have already done 3 of the bigger bases as well (not the 60mm - how many of those would we need?) so it would be easy enough to make more for everyone. I will still make them, up to you guys if you want them or not.

Those're looking spot on - they look as though they'll cast up really well too. Good stuff

Just wanted you to know I have finished the bases and am awaiting an address from spacemunkie.
Now I haven't done any 60mm bases since I figure we will only need one or two of those, if whoever needs one can send me there address I will make them and send out the original.

Wouldn't there be a problem as we are casting GW items for "personal profit" I'd really hate to see the auction getting pulled because we used " illegal" bases.

Mmm I don't think it should be a problem, there is no personal profit involved as the whole of the money raised by the auction is going to the Children in Need charity. But it is something that needs some thought.

No one is gaining any profit, only the charity's. If GW have a problem with that then they seriously need to rethink thier morals.

You are forgetting something. GW's lawers (sp?) have no morals. GSG

This is tru but from what i can see GW don't produce sculpted bases, and the ones that Drevilmonki has made are inpart his own creations using different bits. I think this is no different to someone like Scibor who produces bases and models that clearly are infringing on GW intellectual copyright and for his own personal profit and they do nothing about it, we are not profitting from this venture in anyway and not stirctly infinging on there copyright as we are having something made that they do not produce. And I think that it being a totally charitable project should keep the wolves from the door.

Actually your comment about Scribor is spot on. He uses GW parts in his conversions and then sells them for profit. So no issue!

I wholeheartedly agree on all points, BUT... Scibor does not or hads atleast stopped pressmolding GW parts. aah hijack over.

Tim do you want to double check when you go to GW?
I can always make more without GW stuff on them.
