Since spacemunkie has offered to cast some bases I thought I would give making some a go. Just did these as a trial. The idea is that they are rubble with the debris of war scattered amongst them. Should I add anything? Are they to busy or is there not enough stuff on them? Should I make the rubble piles look more like brick or building materials (so with a lot more uniform shaped chunks in them). Take a look and tell me what you think.

I actually think they are pretty damn cool mate. I for one think we should have these cast up.

I think the bases look awesome too. You really should cast them in resin.
Btw, what size is that guitar wire you used on one of the bases?

Btw, what size is that guitar wire you used on one of the bases? 1.2mm I think.

ok I have done another couple of 30mm bases (I will take photos later - sleep first!).
I think I will do some bases with ruined tiles on them to help form a tranisition from the display base that has already been done.
But before I do that I will paint one of these things so you can see it properly.

Will they be getting cast up and dished out so we all have similar bases to mount the models?

I am hoping that spacemunkie will cast them up in sufficient amounts of the correct sizes and makes them available to me for the army, then I can send everyone who is painting minis bases to put there minis on and that will keep a good overall theme to the army. No one will have to worry about buying them if that is done as I will foot the cost if necessary.

ok so I did a quick paint job so you can see the base more clearly. I used terracotta for the dirt part and grey for the stone part. Suggestions for other colours to be used need to be discussed so that everyone will end up tying in with the theme.

Those are lovely Dr E!
Just to clarify, I'll cast up enough bases so that every model in the army gets one. My contribution to a good cause and all that....
I won't be around for a few days, so feel free to get in touch with me if you need to:

Merry Christmas to everyone!

No issues my end - entirely up to spacemunkie if he wants to cast some to sell or not.

The idea wasn't for me to make money - and they won't be my designs, so I'd rather not sell them afterwards. If you're that desperate for some to use on your own models, you can have the moulds when they're done with though!

Excellent bases, and with the quality of sm's casting i think we're on a winner, i'll hold of basing for a while and see what unfolds

Hey guys I will be finished all the bases by the end of next week at the latest. Then I will ship them off to Spacemunkie for casting.
I guess what Spacemunkie will need is a break down on who needs what bases.

since not enough communication was going on from my end I thought I better keep everyone up to date from now on. I have finished 5 more 25mm bases tonight for a total so far of 10. I will do another 5 this size. I will keep posting as they are completed.
