Mmm Shootas would be good then that takes care of one Core unit. That leaves the other unit free for sluggas.

Shall I do my boyz with sluggas then?

Yup if you look at the participating members thread I have altered it slightly to show your squads, I shall update that as people take their tasks.

But in the pack won't we get 8 shootas and 8 sluggas on the sprue?

I am not sure my understanding is that you should be able to make a unit of Boyz with either but if not it seems there is a possibility for people to trade weapons they don't need for the ones they do.

Hmm... if I get 8 shootas and 8 sluggas on the sprue, then I could send the shootas to Razh or charley, and whoever buys the orks out of those two can send the sluggas they don't need to me... sound good?
Is that what you mean?

Yes if you don't get enough of one weapon to make the whole unit as one type, I will look into this as it may be a problem for more than one or two of you. I will see if I can get GWHQ to donate a few weapon sprues when I go over there this week.

Looking at the picture above you should get enough weapons to build the whole squad as one type of boy, there seem to be four of each weapon type per sprue and you will get four sprues in a box so that makes 16 Orksies.

Right so that means I could build a whole squad of just Boyz with Sluggas, that helps then, it means no awkward weapon trading...

Put me down for 2 burna boyz. I'm not sure how that fits in the whole army. My understanding after a very brief conversation with the local store manager was that a regular burna boy could fit in a standard unit, and didn't have to be in a unit of burna boyz. If I am mistaken, let me know! I'll take a look at the killa kan as well. I would imagine I could manage all three in a year's time.
I guess the next question is color schemes? I understand the orks are somewhat hodge-podge, but are we going to have a common scheme running throughout the army?

That is a good question, and one that I haven't given alot of thought to yet. Orks are very disorganised but an overall them would be a good idea. Mmm there are several different Clans as you know, so I think we need to have a think about something to tie the whole force in together.

I think we should go for earthy colours, and not too much fancy stuff. Brown clothing, dirty metals and maybe some red parts here and there, orks love all things red. And as matty said, check pattern is also very ork-ish, and could be a fun challenge for the beginner painters. I have never tried chack patterns either and I really want to try it ;D

hmmm grumble, grumble.. what about purple war paint?

Post by Tim C on Dec 16, 2006 17:25:05 GMT
If you want to paint purple warpaint on your Orks then fine go ahead, but remember razh your project is a shared one and your completed squad will need to look coherent, blue is the usual colour for warpaint on Orks I believe isn't that the colour of the Death Skulls?

Ok cool I think then that any warpaint should be either red or blue which will tie in better with the orky feel to the army.

I presume we should all paint the skin about the same shade.

I think a bit of variation in skintones is going to make the army more interesting, everyone has there own take on how to do Ork skin.

So Tim I'll buy a box set of Orks and do them with shootas with 2 big shootas and a burna. It would be nice for someone to pick a theme so we can do them all the same tho. Until I find out otherwise I'll go for brown clothing with red and black bits and some cheque some where. I wont do war paint.
