This poll is going to decide who takes the overall top place in the contest. The prizes for this are the Dragon from Olly's Armies and also the Vallejo paintset. so here are the two first places from the Fantasy and Sci Fi categories. lordwermacht leszczyk The voting will be open until midnight Sunday and then the winner announced. Nope I found it easier than voting in the main competition thread. The Beastlord did it for me.

Hi. I won't talk about voting on lordwermacht or me but about what we've done. I've noticed a great potential present in this contest and especially in those two entries above. Breaking a habit is what I have in mind. I think we both showed a different way to paint all known minis. Very blueish beastlord with other strong colors is something you won't see very often. Chaos sorcerer (wh40k) painted with intense and bright colors (including even pink) is neither a mainstream. NMM is slowly starting to be a standard even among GW models. I reckon we've shown that one can paint a mini a way one likes without worrying if it fits the fluff of the system. Thats why I think we both have won.
cheers

You mean that I am expected to stick to the fluff when I paint miniatures? Uh-oh!

I don't neccessarily agree with all that leszczyk says but I do think whatever techniques, colour schemes are used quality will always show and they then become a bench mark by which us mortals need to aspire.

I think you should paint anything however you like, as long as you are happy with what you have done, regardless to fluff and peer pressure.
You want pink fluffy space marines, go for it. Orange Hobgoblins? That's how I imagine them. Blue Ogres, Do it mate!!
You shouldn't ever feel restrained by boundries and borders that companies set you, be creative, and let your imagination run wild!!!

I agree that you should paint to the style that suits you.
I think quality shows through no matter what style you choose to paint a mini.
I like my minis to be painted with fewer colours but clean lines. That is not to say I can't appreciate minis done in a different style... I don't know what is winning all the GW contests but I do know what I like ....

Come ON!! 15 votes I know you can do better. Winner will be master of chaotic creation. Great chaos painting overlord, changer of colors, master of themes, supreme lord of highlight and shadows, king of glazes, ruler of base and so on, so on...

Don't quite know what that was all about lesczyk, the amount of votes is fairly representative of the traffic that the site gets. We a re a small site with medium traffic so we don't get alot of voting in the majority of the contests we run. That said it would be nice to see a few more come in as both entries are worthy of more notice.

Heh, personally I didn't realize we had a vote for a grand Chaos master So maybe the extra numbers that voted in the Fantasy and Sci Fi didn't realize it either... ArrOOoo!

Heya folks,
I wanted to wait till the whole thing was over before I said alot about it. This is the first competition that I have entered in WoM and I can say that I very much enjoyed myself. Thanks to the folks that put it on and ran it!
I am very impressed by leszczyk's piece. I think the blending on the mini and the color choices are top notch. The staff color and the oxides are very strong and its a great paint job.
In fact Im very impressed with the overall quality of the pieces in this competition and look forward to the next one!
Thanks
Lord Wehrmacht
