I think it is time that we thought ahead to the next painting contest, so I thought I would give the members the chance to join in the discussion and see what your ideas are. Do you want a themed contest of anything goes so let me have your opinions.

Yay! A new competition ;D
I think the layout of the first WoM cpmpetition was good. Only with fewer categories, I think 40k, whfb and open will be enough. But to be honest, I like "normal" competitions (like the first WoM competition) better than the themed ones. You have more freedom do paint what you want, instead of many restrictions. A good thing about themed competitions is that you will see many different versions of the same type of mini.
And I have a question. Me, Dennis, Andrè and possibly many others are working on minis for competitions held in the spring. Will we be able to enter these minis?

well the next contest isn't going to be for a little while I will have to send out begging e-mails to mini manufacturers to try and ponce a few prizes. Personally I don't like to have minis entered that have already been entered in other contests two reasons for this are that firstly if you win in one contest with that mini and then happen to win again in another then that is a little unfair. Also if you are going to enter a mini that has been completed then you have an advantage over others that may well paint something just for this contest again I think that is a little unfair and also shows not alot of dedication to the contest (where ever it may be being held) you are entering. So I think to that question the answer would have to be no. If you look at alot of other sites who hold online contests the usual rules are that it should be a new/ very recent work and not shown or entered anywhere else on the net. I do not think that is too much to ask.

How about 28mm only! Let's get fiddly or an LOTR comp of anyscale... hmm, probably get a load of trolls or a paint a mini not GW, Rackham, Reaper or Privateer Press! That'd be a fun recon... i don't mind anyhow, just love the comp a few more ideas; 54mm, could introduce some to another side and challenge in the hobby Duel!, some kind of mini diorama, Convo Comp, where the mini has to be converted, marks for originality as much as skill Paint an EBOB, a selfish suggestion as i've massive guilt for still not painting his champion Mounted madness, as it says, a mounted rider, could include bikers etc! Mechanical mayhem, robots, cyborgs, dreadnaughts, that kind of thing.....

How about just Daemons, and Demons.
Demonic minis from any range, would give a wide enough scope for people not to enter all the same minis.
or a Design a Marine chapter, where you have to submit a command and a tactical marine?

I really like the Dennis' mechanical mayhem idea. I saw some really cool warmachine cryx cyborgs that I really want to paint. Just have to wait for my new credit card to arrive so I can finally start buying stuff online ;D

Ok I want to get a vote going on this I have a sponsor, what I have decided is that there will be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd there will be only one level of entry (so no amateurs) but what I can do is have a prize for the best overall improved painter since joining Wom. When we have decided the theme then I can announce the opening and closing of the contest and put up some painting guidelines. I like either the Mechanical Mayhem or the Demonicus or maybe even the duel options. The sooner we get this sorted the sooner you can all start thinking about the chance of some more free minis.
