Hey everyone, I've only been painting for a few years and have yet to stray from my minis of choice (LOTR). I've decided that I'd like to do something different and the one thing that I'd really like to try is a dragon. Unfortunately, GW has not released a dragon for LOTR. So I'd be interested in hearing (and also seeing) some suggestions for possible dragons. Ideally I'd like to use it in LOTR, but this is not a prority. I simply want to try my hand at a non LOTR figure. Why start small! Thanks for looking

I have several dragons if you have a particullar look or size you are after maybe we can come up with something. Btw I have moved this to the trade forum as I think it is a more appropriate place for it.

I'm more interested in knowing what is out there and available, and have spent some time online looking, but I think that most of you have much more experience so I'd like to tap into that and get some suggestions from you all. But now that you've brought it up, let's see the goods! Cheers

I'm not planning on playing with it, I just would like to try my hand at a non GW mini, and I fancy having a dragon that I can use in a Smaug diorama, or just have him hovering over my desk. I have considered trying my hand at modeling one, but one thing at a time.

I've realized that I have an idea in my head for how Smaug should look, but it is impossible to discribe. One thing I do know is that I think that the wings should be attached to his forarms and not seperate appendages. I'm not sure why, but that just seems to make more sense to me (not that I have seen many dragons). So are there any models out there like what I am thinking about.
Cheers.
@tim: The second dragon is close to what I am thinking, and I really like the pose. Any chance of seeing a pic?

Ok here is the Dragon not the best ic and it is a little bright in the phot but you wanted to see the Dragon not the painwork, This is another you will only find on e-bay now I think, the wing membranes on this one had to be made out of paper.

This is a really nice mini (well more like a biggi) and the head and body are really close to what I want. I still think the wings should no be seperate appendages, but rather attached to the arms. Just a silly idea. Thanks for the pic.

@curunir - The next book for the Lord Of the Rings game, Legions of Middle Earth, has names for troop types that will be released in the next few years. They've done this to make it future proof
Dragons and drakes are in there, so I guess we'll be seeing LotR models for them at some point
