That is really nice work on this, the weathering is first class and the extra details make it very realistic indeed.

this is really top notch! I can spot that you know what u are doing regards heavy panzers... do you by any chance build 1:35 military vehicles? I think many 40k vehicles are too badly done, looking to "clean" or the chipping and wethering are done with not so good techniques. You really made my day by posting this one, I love it! do you have more like this or comming - then just show us please

I used to paint 1:35 scale figures and APC's (Vietnam era), in my early teens. Since then I got into 40K via Space Hulk in the early '90's. I prefer the scale of 28mm and I liked the weight of the metal figures. Since then I get the painting bug every now and then; I paint up a platoon or a couple of vehicles, then it all gets packed away again for a few months. The approach to painting tanks I've mainly picked up from magazine articles aimed at the 1:35 scale modeler. An article in Tamiya model magazine from 2003 showing a very worn Iraqi T-55 c1980's has given me lots of pointers.
I've got picture's of my other IG tanks; a couple of standard Leman Russ tanks; an Artemia pattern Hellhound from Forge World; a Scout Salamander; a Command Salamander; a Trojan and a few Chimeras. I'll have rummage and stick some in the same gallery thread as the Baneblade.

If you want to add more pictures to your gallery then send the img tags via the pm system to one of the admin team and we will ad them in for you, the reason we do it this way is to keep the gallery threads just for pictures and the feedback is kept in the feedback forum mate. I would love to see more of your amour as well.

I still fiddle with some WW2 era 1:35, love it, and are a devoted subscriber of the finest modelling mag there is (imo) www.modelmilitary.com/I've learne a lot of things from that and other mags on painting/building minis/modells and still do.

These are very well done and wish I had managed to keep mine from years ago (1:35 Tamiya that is). I bet there are not many would be able to stand against that lot rolling across the field. Again well done - excellent work

Thanks for all the kind and encouraging comments. I'm currently trying to finish off all those little bits of projects that always seem to end up on the back burner when something more' shiny' comes along. A present I've got a bridge, an Earthshaker cannon, a couple of buildings and several figures to keep me from buying anything new. Well that's the theory anyway!

The theory is good but the practice never works (at least not for me anyway).

Yeah, I know , the theory has gone out the window already! What can I say, alcohol and ebay is a bad combination!
Hi Zapoteke, glad you like it. It's my favorite model so far from FW, it had been on my 'wish list' since they first produced it. I revamped my other Chimeras with autocannon turrets just to tie in with this piece. The top plate was a bit of a bugger as it was quite twisted and required a lot of hot water treatment to get straight('ish). Although it's a lot better than the barrel of a 'Hydra' emplacement I have done, they looked like a bunch of bananas!
