Hi.
I want to try to use a guitar string for W40K based conversions. I have heard that you can use guitar strings to represent wires etc. I want to try to use this is my Black Templar army. So what size is the best, and what should I look for when I buy the guitar strings? Is it any difference between electric and acoustic guitar strings?
I bet if I come in to a music store and ask "Which guitar string do you reccomend for miniature model conversions?", the store clerk only shakes his head ;D

I honestly wouldn't know but im sure you could browse through the options, i've only heard of them being used for stringing bows so its probably the finest steel string from an electric guitar

I wouldn't know... I've never heard of this before, but I'm not snapping any strings off my guitar!

Guitar strings are used alot in miniature production and conversion. I have never done it myself and wouldn't know how to decide what sort to buy. I am sure that there is something somewhere on Cmon. If you look at alot of minis that have ridded piping that is very often done with guitar strings. It is something I have been meaning to do for a while just to see difficult it would be to work them into a model.

It would'nt matter if its acoustic or electric, as long as you get any of the 'top strings'....Heavy E, A, D (possibly G). They are all wound strings that look great for power cabling, etc.
Any of the bass strings would work too, as they are a bit thicker. Price wise, i remember bass strings would cost more....I'd just stick with the 6 string.
If you have no shame, you might want to ask the music store guy for broken strings...maybe they'd give you those for free...Then again, the thicker strings don't break as often.
A single "A" string probably wouldn't cost anymore than 4 bucks or so...and that would give you several FEET of wire.....
hope any of that helps

That does look cool and easy to do, if only I did 40K...
GW should be ashamed of that green chainmail, it looks terrible!

I am in no position of commenting their sculpting, as I don't sculpt myself. But I will try my first sculpting project soon, so then I will remeber to ask you for tips and advice ;D
