Ok, who's gonna be getting this game for the Xbox 360 for Xmas?? Let me know your gamertags if you are because I've scored myself a 360 at Argos with a free game and mega pack (extra controller, remote, steering wheel, and some other gubbins) a couple of weeks ago.

Thats a good idea for some games, but the big hitters like Halo etc are worth getting straight away. I have bought quite a few normal xbox games dirt cheap - playing Jade Empire at the moment and the two I'm waiting for are Black and Knights of the Old Republic II which are still too pricey even 2nd hand last time I checked. You got an Xbox or the 360 Menace?

Xbox.. oldschool! I just picked up Rainbow 6 Lockdown, Ghost Recon 2 Summit Strike, Fable and Half life 2 for about 25gbp... brand new ;D
I hope to stock up on some more before they are impossible to buy and then go for a 360 when the price comes down

I don't have Xbox, but playstation 2. I almost never play games on it though, but I love the Grand Theft Auto games. I have been thinking about buying the new playstation 3, but it's far too pricey. I'll probably wait a few years. And I will buy a new PC soon, so I will probably only play games on the PC ;D

No mutantpotato don't do it!! Get a 360 and enjoy putting the game in and it actually working!!! Sorry, but the Half-Life 2 PC experience left me with a bitter taste in my mouth. I bought a nice new graphics card and all. Had thick white horizontal lines across all the water areas, and of of course the audio bugs it suffered, it completely ruined what would have been an enjoyable game. My PC isn't a bad one either - athlon 2200 ,2gb 400 Ram, geforce 6600 gt, nearly 1tb hard drive space and half of the time I feel the urge to just throw it out the window.

Pah... Xbox... what is so good about it? I'm saying this being a rabid Nintendo guy, but personally the Wii looks a hell load better, it is way more original and revolutionary than either the PS3 or Xbox 360. So while you guys are still using your normal controllers I will be using the Wii remote and experiencing semi-virtual reality!
Just what I think.

I also have a PS2, nintendo GBA but no Xbox. It's the xbox controller I don't like. I have heard about the gears of war game on the radio, and the review was quite good.

I don't really play video games anymore--but I read about playstation 3 in a newspaper. What is so special about it and why is it so bloody expensive?

The Nintendo Wii does look very good (nowehere near as powerful though!) and I may well get one myself at some stage, but Microsoft have done a generally good job with the 360 console - a solid online set up for demos/ content and gaming, it's a nice looking machine and a powerful one to with a dvd player thrown in no extra charge this time around. The wireless controllers are cool although it does lack the innovation of the Wii's (come on Microsoft you dropped the ball there). Sony on the other really ballsed up with the ps2 launch and that put me off of them. They are also 1 year behind the 360 even though it may be a more powerful console graphically, so was the Xbox compared to the PS2 and we all know the result of that scenario - PS2 was well established and MS failed to break Sony's lead. Sony's online strategy is yet to prove itself and the pricing is a joke unless your rich. By the way mminiatures, it's expensive because it has a 60gb hard drive and a blue ray player in it for the next generation of HD movies and of course storage. It starts to look like a more acceptable price if you compare it to a pricey top of the range PC graphics card and look at all the extra goodies it provides.

I have allways been a playstation fan, and I think I allways will be. But the Halo games are bloody brilliant, and it's a pity they don't come to PS. At the PC I pretty much only play Dawn of War and BFME2, and those games don't come to PS or Xbox. But when I get older, and hopefully have a lot more money I'll probably but the Xbox just for the Halo games ;D

mutantpotato - the 360 does have BFME 2 actually, which I will probably buy after xmas. It will also have the new command and conquer game so hopefully the rts games will find a home on the console at last.
