Heya people Well im new to the forums and the whole painting scene so i'll just introduce myself then. Im J1nXxX aka plain Rik., I live in the Netherlands, I am 17 years old and going to school/work at the same time takes a lot of time -_-' unfortunatly. I started collecting Tau after I saw warhammer for the first time about 1,5 years ago while playing and painting i found out i liked the painting and moddeling part better then the playing. Also i like a lot of models choosing one army was hard enough already. I havent painted any models yet loose from my Tau, but planning on doing so very soon. Only problem is in the Netherlands the closest mini shop to my town is about a 40min drive and only has gw models, so my choice is quite limited. I hope to learn a lot as my painting now is what u call army quality, i have read a lot of tuturials and hoping to try some stuff out real soon. I also would like to ask if anyone knows some mini shops that ship here and have some nice models for the time beeing ill pickup a nice gw model and start learning from there, I hope im able to make some time in the weekend to pick one up. And seeing the painting level u guys paint on im really impressed but meself not even close too. So for the time beeing u guys are stuck with me ^^ GreetZ J1nXxX Long read. lack of emotes > ;D [solved]

Hi Rik, welcome to the forums and thanks for taking the time to introduce yorself here. It is good to have another member and hope you will be an active member and also hope you get a lot from this site. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask and the members will be only to happy to help. We have a small tutorials section but I am hoping to expand that over time to include many aspects of the painting and modelling hobby. As for stores I can't help you there but I am sure there are some who can, alternatively I live not far from GQHQ so if you need anything it is not too much trouble for me to pick it up and send you the odd thng or two. Welcome again to the forums and have a nice time here, and I am sure that I speak for everyone when I say we look forward to seeing some of your work soon.

Welcome to WoM... I'm sure you will get plenty of help here with your painting, especially if you post on the WIP threads, then the advice will be specific and you can ask as many questions as you need answered. I have similar problems in Oslo, only GW available, so if i want something other i have to order online, i find ordering from England has been the best for postage costs and if i keep my orders below a certain amount i don't pay any duty... try www.game-mart.co.uk or alternatively just ask here, you'll also find many links in the miniature news forum... Good luck and hope to see some of your minis soon

I somehow ended up beeing 22 , beeing a bad typer i always look at my keyboard while typing not looking at the screen, when reading mistyped i found out ive gotten a lot older. I am actually 17 i editted it in the original post, my bad. And as i found some old pics of my very first ever painted models, not so shiny painting and a bad camera but ill show it anyway. Atm i dont have a decent camere of some sort as my army has immensly grown over time. My dad is buying a new camera soon, all fingers crossed i can get some decent pictures, having read how to do this all with the background and stuff. As i said first models i ever painted, custom paint sheme, and it has changed a bit but if ill get a new camera ill be able to show u. Pics(Camera sucks): Tau Battlesuit. Tau Troops. and Menace that site has awesome minis and affortable, real nice GreetZ Rik Edit: Fixed the Pictures

First tip Get yourself a tripod, a cheap tabletop one will do to begin with, it's the best way to keep your photos sharp... but if this is your first mini it promises many good things to come

I've had a look on game-mart.co.uk .,
lots of sweet mini's , but ill think ill start going with a simple gw one to get the feel of painting just for painting and not getting an army togheter if you know what i mean. I got a question though what colours are an absolute must to have?, and what colour can i best use to prime, cause my Tau I used black for the firewarriors and white for vehicles just to make it easier but i hear lots of people use gray , so what is best to use for priming?
The model that im going to paint i have no idea about cause the store is small and holds only a small stock so ill just have to go with what they happen to have at that time, im hoping they have some chaos, beasts of Choas, Lizarmen or Eldar models, I like the look of there special chars but ill let u guys know if i can find anything interesting.
As for the future I am sure going to buy some Confrontation models as they are just so sweet looking.

I prime all my figures, regardless of how i want them to look, with chaos black spray from GW. I find it makes painting much easier and you don't have to worry about trying to paint all the darklining at the joins of areas.. this is only my preference, i think white has it's advantages if you want a colour to 'shine' but i can think of no reason to go for gray. You can post these questions in the Painting and Modelling Hobby now

Nice model mate even though the pics are a little dark, you might want to put these in the showcase tohugh as yo will get more feedback there now.
