This is a tutorial intended to show you how to construct a simple space hulk/tech base for science fiction miniatures but there is no option to post in tutorials so i put it here instead for an admin or mod to move ( sorry )
You will need:
a 28mm base ( new style )
a 28mm base ( old style )
a sheet of check plate plasticard
some model guage plastic tube
the mesh from a frying pan splatter guard ( 2 for £1 at my local pound store )
some 0.4mm guage wire
craft knife
superglue
clippers
take your new style base and cut a rectangle hole roughly in the middle
take your plastic tube and cut a small length that fits the width of the base, turn the base over and glue the tube in
take your old style base and place it face down on the check plate plasticard and cut around it with your craft knife so you get a circle, this should then fit on top of the new style base perfectly
now cut a small rectangular hole in the middle of the plasti card to match your base hole
now cut another rectangular piece of plasti card abit larger than your hole on your base, then cut the middle of this rectangle out, this will be the maintainence hatch cover
now glue your round plasticard disc to the base
take your mesh and cut a rectangle to fit the same size as your hatch cover, then glue this to the underside of the hatch
now glue the hatch cover to the top of the base in a way that you think looks good
take your thin guage wire and twist 4 small strands together to look like this, it will be a piece of electric/data cable coming out of the hatch cover
pull the ends of the wire apart slightly so they look frayed and then put it in the hatch hole and have it come out of it with the frayed end out
thats it, all that remains is to paint the base which i will post a picture of when its done, try your own and thanks for looking
