I was once asked how to sculpt rope out of greenstuff and as it is a very easy thing to do here's a quick tutorial for those who don't know how.....
Sculpting ropes is easier than you might think. Just follow these easy steps....
(1)First mix your green stuff and leave it for a while, it should be at the point where you can still sculpt it but it is starting to harden.
(2)Divide into two equal balls and roll them out on a suitable surface until they are at greater than the required length and at the correct thickness, the thinner it is the more realistic your rope will look. Thicker rolls are acceptable if you are making them for giants and ogres or rope bridge scenery etc.
(3) Gently push the two rolls of putty together so they touch and you can pick them up as one piece, grip lightly at both ends. Then evenly twist them around from both ends keeping an eye on the eveness at some stage you will need to twist from the middle and at different points along the rope depending on how even the rope is looking.
You may find it is over twisted and squashed (depending on how gentle you were!) at either end so you'll need to cut it off. You can leave to harden and glue in position or just stick it straight on before it hardens.
