Seems that this will be the standard for pre-painted rackham stuff: Comments anyone? ;D

Even the sculpt is poor. And I'm not even talking about the painting yet. Cheers, Wolfie

If it's just for gaming then it would probably be ok. For collectors / painters it would be a waste of hard erned cash.

I'll be curious to see how this trend pans out. Certainly for those of us who are painters primarily and even for those of us who game and paint, these are very poor quality. For the everyday gamer, they might be a better alternative to plain plastic/metal or finding someone to paint them for you. Only time will tell, I suppose, whether these will appeal to the strictly gaming population.

Yep, a big boo to Rackham for churning out this rubbish. Absolutely awful - even if I was a gamer who couldn't paint I would never entertain purchasing a model like this. I have bought a big load of stuff from arcaneminiatures.co.uk who have a 3 for 2 offer on all confrontation at the moment (until 30th august) I will wait until my skills have improved before tackling it though as I want to try nmm.

They seem to have 2 main reasons for moving in this direction. 1. Release of the new confrontation rules for new gamers 2. All future tournaments can only be played with painted figures

Having received the latest Rackham news letter it showed the miniatures in the Confrontation set, now there are Wolfen and some Human type minis (can't remember what ) but these looked pretty decent. I am guessing however that they have been painted for advertising purposes rather like these partworks that give away a miniature, like the Napoleon At War set. The add showed wonderfully painted minis but the reality is they are cack. I know I have the full set.

I think you'll find they have probably done quite a bit of research. Look how popular the WotC D&D miniatures are!!! They're cheaper to produce because of the lower quality, & people buy more because they don't have to paint them up for their armies. As much as we cringe at the sculpt & paint job - and let's face it they're crap - they will sell & probably very well. It does make a kind of business sense. Their descision to stop their older figures may alienate their existing customer base though ....
