I know this is a computer game, but it is indeed miniature related. I am talking about Warhammer Online, the most anticipated game of 2007. It has already won many awards, even though it has not been released yet. Warhammer Online is a MMORPG, just like World of Warcraft. It differs from WoW as it is a RvR game (realm vs realm), where you play as a part of an alliance. The two alliances are order (the empire, dwarfs and high elves) and destruction (chaos, greenskins and dark elves). You can build your own character in all of these armies, and there are several careers to choose from ( e.g. the orcs have the careers black orc, orc choppa, squig herder and goblin shaman). Visit their homepage for screenshots, videos, trailers, game info etc. For more info visit these sites: - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warhammer_Online- www.warhammeronline.com/english/home/- www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgnK1_yBQ5s (interview) - www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWvAznIRVLA (a presentation) - www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfWon7gqRBM (I love this guy's enthusiasm) - www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJ7x9ieXr5M (a really awesome trailer) - pc.ign.com/objects/748/748723.html (article at IGN) Black Orc Beastman Squig herder

Ok-I'm sure this will be pretty popular and successful, but IMO one of the great things about miniatures is their old-fashioned non electronicness. Call it silly, but I think its cool that while the rest of the world goes home and watches tv or plays xbox or whatever for entertainment, we play with miniatures which I think is much more entertaining and rewarding. I just don't like to see them mixed. Looking at that squig I just though, no thats wrong, a squig looks nothing like that, its really a miniature! Just my two cents though. I certainly won't be getting it.

That looks awesome mate! The only thing which would stop me playing it is that do you know whether you have to buy it then install it like WoW? Or do you have to download it and install it? Or is it just browser-based?
Thanks.

The images are very detailed and I have heard that the game is going to be awesome, as to whether or not I will play it I don't know probably not but I can see there will be loads that do.

@raccy: You have to buy it and install it. Right thanks, do you know if you then have to pay for it like WoW? I mean, after you've installed it/

Right thanks, do you know if you then have to pay for it like WoW? I mean, after you've installed it/ I don't think so, and I definitely don't hope so. I haven't heard anything about that, but they are planning to launch it for xbox and ps3 aswell. And I don't think those two platforms have "pay and play", so I don't think PC will have it. But if you have to pay to use it, I probably won't buy it. It's just stupid to pay to play a game you have already bought

Exactly, but that doesn't stop WoW from becoming the most widely-played MMORPG in the world does it? If you do have to pay for it after you've bought it I won't get it at all but otherwise I might be able to get it.

The xbox 360 could use a pay for play system via the marketplace they have, where you pay for credits to pay for things. And i reckon the PS3 will probably have a similar system.
I just reckon its one way that GW will lose money on the hobby side of things. New kids coming to the hobby will think, shiny new computer game or....an expensive game where you have to build, paint and play. I think it will inject massive amounts of money over a few month, but then lessen off after a while.
I wont be buying it because a) i have a mac, and games companies don't tend to like Apple and b) im not a huge fan of mmorpgs (or whatever they are) i played WoW for a month and got pretty sick of it.
