We've had Music Corners & Poet's Corners, and as i'm rubbish at both i thought i'd put up a Painting Corner! Here's a start, but why not join in with any drawings, paintings etc 'The Smoking Room' Oil on Linen 50x40cm 'Come Find Yourself' as above 'A Song For My Sweetheart' as above This is the beginning of a show i'm putting together based on my reading of existentialism..

They are truly fantastic Dennis, my particular favourite is the one of the station, very moody and fits my job perfectly.

Fantastic work. You have a very crisp style. I like it. Here's something I was working on for a while... Haven't touched it since the picture was taken... just got too frustrated with the clouds... Reference Photo: Painting thus far (acrylic w/ retarder on canvas):

;D ;D ;DSully, in the name of 'art' you can poo on a bit of paper these days and someone will think you a genius ;D ;D ;D Thanks for the comments guys, btw Tim, i have a thing for old Railway stations and i'm working on a large scale painting of a disused station at the moment. I look forward to showing it to you, they are places full of meaning beyond the subject. That's a beautiful image you're working from rlanger, keep it going, i like how it almost becomes abstract but is pulled back by the silhouette (although all representation is in itself an abstract... omg, art college speak, i'll shut up now )

Beautiful work, Menace! The fog is almost photorealistic...
Sully--digital art is definitely art in my book. I think that piece looks great.
Rlanger--very good start! I the blue sky is extremely well represented and the clouds look great to me.

Wonderful work Dennis. I think can see that these pictures are Norwegian motives (correct me if I'm wrong). The train station seems familiar, is it from Norway? BTW, the paintings are amazing. I really like the fog on the train station, but I have no idea how you manage to paint it I've wanted to try painting on canvas for a while. Can you give me some advice?

Thanks Mikkel, they are all subjects from around Lillevann Stasjon, you probably pass it 100+ times when you go skiing at Tryvannstua!! If you want to learn about oil painting i'd be happy to get you started...

Spitzweg-like without the detail(as the motif , i recon..) Kirsi(wife +companion) told me the houses roud Trondelag looklike that. What i miss are the crisp edges from the other painting i've seen, but that's to be expected in fog, isn't it?When do you exibit in Sweden , D.?

Ok then, this was my first attempt at a manga style head using what info I could find from the Internet. I am a big anime/manga fan but not a brilliant drawer. But hey, check it out: Any comments good/bad appreciated. Fortunately, for my b-day I got a How to draw Manga book and some drawing stuff, so, I hope to do more and post it in this thread and I hope it looks a damn load better than this! Also, check this link to get other details and what other people have said on One-Ring: www.one-ring.co.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=7644

Hello folks I managed to score some internet time on my father in laws computer so happy days!!!!!
Menace - awesome art and I hope the exhibition is a sucess! You are a truly talented guy, so in order to calm my jealously at not being able to paint like that how about posting up some real early stuff so we can take the piss from when you weren't so good (was there ever a time or were you this standard before you could walk?)!! Hell, even if you don't have any bad stuff, just draw up some stick men and post it so I can say "that's pretty rubbish menace!" and my deep seated jealous inner rage will be satisified - lol. I read about your little accident with the persecutor, very nasty but very lucky. I look forward to seeing some updated photos on these guys too!! Gotta dash = got to get back to feeling ill with my aweful cold and outrun on the psp. cheers everyone.

I should owe you 6 then, but i did already know not to drink coke and sculpt at 11.50pm. I just wasn't thinking. @menace- That first painting of yours reminds me of one by Marc Chagall (sp?).

That's the beauty of art, there is a genre out there to suit everyone . Abstract comes in many guises and in theoretical terms all representation is an 'abstract' of the subject, but i know what you mean and although i no longer paint abstract i do admire and enjoy the good stuff... ...this isn't good stuff, i did it years ago when at College

Wow! Really cool! I mostly like "real" motives, but it doesn't mean that it's beautifully painted..... I wonder how you did that, it's a really cool effect, looks kinda like when a drop of water hits the surface of water. It's kinda fustrating for my eyes to look at it, especially the center, so you must be a good painter to make that effect ;D

In the centre i first painted a figure, it's a gymnast in a contorted pose... i wanted it to look as though she had been falling or trapped under water, the view being from above, so i played with the paint, taking inspiration from an american video artist, Bill Viola... the painting is almost 2 metres square so i had lots of space to play.... Thanx for the remarks, i'm certain i'll stick to realism now but it was fun trying out other forms of expression
