Here is the latest off the table. It was a fun little project. A coworker found this little guy in his garage and gave a set of them to me. I did some research and found out this was cast in 1978 and is a Heritage mini (originally cast under "Elan Merch" name). They were originally made from the LoTR cartoon movie that came out at the same time. I believe he is an Uruk hai orc. I tried to reference the orcs from the movie, but the producer decided to make them black shadows with glowing red eyes and white teeth. I did the best I could to add some life to this sculpt! The OSL around the eyes, weathering on the metals, freehand woodgrain and stitching on tunic, and a new, larger base were all done to bring this guy into the new century . I figured he deserved it after 30 years in a ziplock bag in a shoebox. I gained a much better appreciation for the sculptors today--the hobby has progressed quite a bit, eh? lol As always, comments and critiques are welcome! These are a bit smaller than the majority of miniatures today; I believe they are true 25 mm. Here is a comparison with a space marine: The obligatory voting linky--show this guy some love! www.coolminiornot.com/231281

Ha ha ha!! This little guy rules, and as expected, you've done an excellent job. He's not very big at all, is he. That's wild that he's from the late 70's and is just getting painted now. Good job Jabber

Well done Sean, this little guy has come out perfect, the animated lotr was a mixture of cartoon and real film coloured over or blacked out to set the mood. I still like that movie today as it stuck closely to the story unlike PJ's movies that were more eye candy but deviated quite alot. Sadly it was never completed. Your mini is ace and with the lack of imagery to go on he turned out very nice indeed.

I loved the original cartoon of lord of the rings, shame t was never finished - it was all me and my friends had back then, no pj eye candy for us!! I remember winding up my brother saying it was on TV one christmas (he loved it to) to get him excited only to be disappointed when he realised it wasn't and by some great miracle my joke was made redundant the next day as it was advertised as being on. If you havent seen it i recommend it, some top stars doing the voices - john hurt'ts gravel voice is great as Aragorn.
The mini looks great mate and the vote has been cast!!!
