*Gasp* another mini in 6 weeks time?! I was motivated to do this guy for an online contest at a little forum over at D20 Radio. The theme was Star Wars utilizing a Reaper mini. This was my entry, based on a Clone trooper seen in Episode III on the lava planet Mustafar. Naturally, hit me hard with the critiques! Here was the reference pic: Enjoy!

This is a nice mini mate, i am always a fan of anything star wars and this sculpt is some nice homage. Paintjob is nicely detailed with the armour chips although it would be nice to see a bigger piccy. I think you could have done better with the base though to give it some honest crit. A nice rocky one with some shades of red on it might work better with this one or a snow base, just to match the colours of the mini up. I think the sci-fi split pattern bases are wearing thin for me!! I loved them the first time i saw them though. I think dragon forge are doing some good ones at the moment and I like those scibor ones to.

ps post the link when its up on cmon and I'll vote for you.

Bloody ace mate. The colours nice and crisp, the chips work well, all in all and great piece.

Thanks, guys! I'll see what I can do about a bigger pic. Photobucket frequently seems to resize my pics... DFB--thanks for your thoughts on the base. I agree these bases have been done to excess, but I chose it for a couple of reasons. One, I had not done a scratch built tech base before, so it was good practice for me. The second was that it provided an additional opportunity for do some weathering, which I thought would fit in with the mini itself. I'll try and get a pic up at CMoN later today.

I see JW, fair enough. I must admit I haven't tried a split base design myself yet either though! Regarding photobucket check the drop down menu box when in the upload screen and make sure it is set to 1mb file size as opposed to a dimension, this should retain the size you save it at so long as it is under 1mb of course. SHould solve your problem as I had it muck up some of my photos too!

Looks superb there Jabber! Only thing I can complain about is that the hands and the gun are a little difficult to distinguish from each other, though that's probably just me and my poor eyesight when i'm not wearing my glasses >.<
Other then that, nicely done!

Good critiques, both. I'll probably go back on glaze down the black a bit more. On the up side, I managed to nab 1st in the online contest! I've been on a roll for the summer. 1st place at Reapercon and now this!
Thanks for your honest thoughts and suggestions guys; I really appreciate it.
