Grand job Youve picked all the extra details well. One thing I notice, and it something ive been guilty of until recently, is the paint is much to heavily applied. Try to thin the paint a little more and use more passes / coats. It does require a good bit of patience but gives a much cleaner finish. I would recommend taling a figure and only painting each area in the desired midtone / colour, no highlighting or shading, butusing thin coats and plenty of them. When done you should see a great improvement in appearance, practice this with a few figures until you get used to the best dilution and then think about the shading. On my base colour I usually need 4 or 5 coats to give an even surface, paint diluted approximately 1 part to 2 parts water.

A humble attempt with excellent results. I do agree with dennis that the paint is fairly think. The staff has very nice look to it as well. On his right arm, you maybe be able to add a tad more highlighting from what i can see, but that's just me. At any rate, this looks great urchin
