Thought i'd grumble that after 8 months and about 30 minis the point on my W&N series 7 M has gone, never to be seen again... i don't know if this should be a grumble, it's just i've heard others say they've got 2 years from a W&N, and there is no way they could care for a brush any more than i do... ...now i feel like a disappointed kid! Maybe it's because last week i managed to get super glue gel on my trusty backup Da Vinci brush which has now been relegated to varnishing... ... i knew the Series7 was starting to go, the point is still perfect, no splitting of hairs etc, it has just worn off at the tip , so how do you guys n dolls find brush life, am i a whinger or do i need another brand?? Meanwhile i'm off to buy 2 new Da Vinci Kolinsky's (half the price of W&N and just as good... if you don't super glue them!) Edit; Super whine! I think it's a Sign. i need to rest from minis for a good month, i'm almost finished Nemetis but i'm knackered everytime i go to it... the new beushes will take a good 2 weeks to arrive so i'm gonna just annoy folk online for a while

I didn't have that kind of problem with them. I rather had splitted points sometimes. I think every brush is different, if you buy the same size from different manufacturing periods they wont be exaclty the same. There may be a difference in the materials used as well.
What I regularly do is that after painting I clean my brushes in clean water and brush soap (Colourfull Arts Brush Cleaner & Preserver). This helps a lot to lengthen the brushes' lifespan. Apart from that I don't use any special. I also try to avoid large amounts of paint on my brushes, I use usually Vallejo colors, don't dip my best brushes into paint to the tilt, don't use them to mix.

I can't comment of the W&N brushes but I ahve been using some Da-Vinci ones, and they have been pretty good, took some getting used to after years on Gw's sables. Although I have still got and use some of the old red GW ones.

I generaly use Pro-Arte they seem to be pretty good and durable, i also have a few that I got from a mate I don't know where he got them from but they are realy good , the 5/0s are ace and as they wear down and get finer they are great for very fine lining and eyes and that sort of thing.

Don't ask me for advice, I'm an expert in ruining brushes. But I have stopped using GW brushes and started with the WN Cirrus. They are much more durable than GW ones, and I have learned to treat my brushes better.
BTW, where do you buy good brushes in Norway?

menace: There is a store called KEM (Kunstnerenes Eget Materialutsalg = artists own material sale) in Oslo. The store has all sorts of WN brushes, and lots of great artist stuff too. I have never bought anything there, but my aunt is an artist so she recomended the store. The adress is: Brenneriveien 9 B, 0182 Oslo or www.kem.no/Just thought I'll let you know, so you don't have to buy everything online ;D

You go to London regulary You lucky git ;D I have never bought anything at KEM either. I have planned to buy some new brushes when I move out, in about 11 months. I think I'll go for WN series 7, so I'll let you know I have 000 up to 6 in the WN Cirrus series. I got them for 75 % at a art store in Denmark in my summer holiday. I got 9 WN brushes for about 200 kr. Not bad price eh? ;D
