I have finally got a chance to start on my Isengard army. My plan is to have different poses for all minis in the army, which gives me a good excuse to practise my convertion and sculpting skills. Here is the first Scout I painted. As you can see he is not painted to the best standard but i hope it will do for an army standard. Thanks for looking, Razh

Looking really good razh. I really like the face, the eyes are awesome! I am working on a Isengard army too, so I'll draw some inspiration from you ;D I hope to learn something too Jättebra!

Very nice mate, it looks suitably dark and grimy for an orc.

@mikkel thanks mate. feel free to get inspired by my work . and you uruks have inspired me too. it was when I saw some of your convertions I got the idea to make an army with every model beeing uniqe (even though it could just be to put the head in another angle). @tim thanks mate:)

Here are two simple convertions. I've just put the arms in different angels and made new sleevs from GS. This is what they looked like on the sprue: And what they look like now (not much different, but still different ) : Thanks for looking, Razh

Thanks Steven . I've just got the minis I ordered; the evil of isengard box (20 uruks and 18 warg riders), Sharku and two Ork boyz with 'eavy weapons. So I've quite a lot to do, I'll start a WIP thread for the boyz soon too. Thanks again, Razh

Great to be a source of inspration for an awesome painter ;D I think it's great that we do the same army at the same time. Then we can learn from eachother and help eachother. I am a slow and lazy painter, so your army will probably be finished a long time before mine ;D I have a question. How did you paint the eyes/face on the sqout? It looks amazing. The shading around the eyes looks really grim, and suits the uruk perfectly. Btw, nice qonversions

VERY nice work on the paint job! It looks as good as the metal scouts, which is impressive as its just the plastic one. The face is great.

Thank you mminiatures and Mikkel! As for the eyes I simply painted them black first, then a dot of bleached bone and for the pupil chaos black. the area around the eyes are painted with dark flesh mixed with black. Thanks again, Razh

Oh I saw first now that you (Mikkel) asked how I painted the face aswell, sorry. Well it was painted like this: Over a black undercoat I painted it with a mix of dark flesh and chaos black approx 2:5. than I highlighted it by adding more and more dark flesh untill you have a mix of approx three parts of dark flesh and one part of black. after this I added a little bit of bleach bone to the mix for a final highlight. hope it helps Razh

Thanks Andrè. Yeah I think it will help.
Uruks are actually the minis I have painted the most. I think I have painted at least 40 uruks. But that was at least three years ago, and then I used this technique: - Drybrush chainmail on metal areas - Paint all colours in basic colours (in the eavy metal paint scheme) - Then drybrush the entire mini with chaos black to represent dirt and weathering (lol) ;D
This way of painting is very basic, but was actually a big turning point in my mini painting. When I first learned how to drybrush, I used it all the time, everywhere! ;D And And after I learned drybrushing I slowly started to learn all the other techniques ;D

Drybrushing was THE stuff to do when your just starting! I cranked out a 1000 point Nid army in a month just drybrushing! But now (6 month later) I don't drybrush anything, save for fur and a little hair now and then.

Thanks for your comments guys The problem with me and painting is that I get bored after I have painted more than one warrior of the same kind very often. but since my Isengard army will have loads of different minis I can paint on orc tis day an uruk the next etc. After seeing good ol' Clarkmonsters (on OR) Wildmen I got really inspired. and luckily I got some today here is what one of them look like at the moment. its still a wip. I really like the wildmen an I'm getting a big bunch of these Thanks for looking

Thanks guys I got some more converting done when I was waiting for something on my nurgle chap to dry. here is the least complicated conversion I have done so far for the army. just added a pike tip. and here is my version of Vrasku (sp?). I did not lik his crossbow so I changed it for a normal one. and i also did a head swap. Thanks for looking, Razh

The conversions look good. I think I would have kept the head, but the crossbow looks good. And what did you use for the crossbow string?
And your wildman looks ambsolutely amazing, I think it's the best I have seen from you yet.

Some neat conversions here Razh!
What you can do whcih is more complex but looks effective if you pull it off is if you get a normal pikeman and sculpt a banner onto the pike! Just something you might want to try.
Cheers, Raccy.
