As some of you know I used to do historical miniatures and I took the chance to make pictures of a few of my best work. As a detail, they are all painted with artists oils, so if you ever wanna try this feel free to contact me. First a British trencher from "The Great War" (That is world war 1 1914-1918 for you kids ;D ) Next is a buste from Quannah Parker a renown chief of the North American Indians Let me know how you like them, I painted these ten years ago

They look great, must have taken ages with oils, they take an absolute age to dry.

tommy took me 14 days from beginning to end if I remember correctly. The Indian a few months with lots of resting time in between. Since the oil layers are very thin you can work over them the next day. It's making pictures of the minis that can be really painful since it can take more then a year before they are dried up enough to loose the shininess of the oil paint. I never varnished these. You loose a lot of the effects that oil paints give by varnishing them.
