Although in my games he'll be a Cleric. I wanted a fancy looking one, so I chose one of the new GW ones. Had quite a blast painting him, and really enjoyed watching how he turned out, especially the freehand, whic I'm really only just getting the hang of. Has always scared me in the past in case I buggered up all the hard work I'd already done. Hmmmmmm, my Barbarian may just have to see the light and turn into this guy for my next game..........

Thanks,
I stood in GW Lincoln the other week with all 3 of the new ones in my hands, and couldn't decide which to choose, as they are all wonderful scuplts, so I let me wife pick, and I'm glad she chose this one as it's my favourite after all.
Sadly the pics really don't do him justice, I may have to invest in a new/better camera to really show stuff off.
Looking forward to seeing yours now, both of them, especially t see what colour schemes you choose.

I have two of the three sadly they didn't have the one with a hammer in each hand as I would have had all three, I will look in GW next week for it I think.

Great mini! I like your style, reminds me of the old Eavy Metal. The cloak is amazing. I really like the deep blue colour and the freehand.

Thanks. My painting pref really does date back to before the GW infamous 'red' period, I just seem to associate with those colours and styles, especially with fantasy minis, more than the realistic approach that some take nowadays. Not that I don't like the newer look, I do, but it's just not me. Must be something to do with continually re-reading all those old White Dwarf mags..............

For a while, everything that the 'Eavy Metal team painted, and was featured in White Dwarf was painted mainly red, which soon came to be a bit of a joke.

I really like this one, Brue. I think he is one of my favorites that you have done. The freehand on the cape is outstanding.

Do remember that this is the fat Warrior Priest, the one that the other two take the urine out of!!! Nah, only kidding, it's a great mini, would like to have a crack at one of the others too, just to see, how a green robe would turn out.

Hi there
Just want to say that that is a sweetly (is that a word) painted Miniature. A question - how did you paint that blue, gold (on bracelet thingy) and the flesh.

Hi there Just want to say that that is a sweetly (is that a word) painted Miniature. A question - how did you paint that blue, gold (on bracelet thingy) and the flesh. Sek Thanks to you both. The blue was painted using a basecoat of Regal Blue and I added Ultramarine Blue to it, working up to just UMB on it's own. The flesh is a mix I have in a pot of Palid Flesh, (sadly OOP), Bestial Brown, Bronzed Flesh, a little Elf flesh, and some white. I basecoat skin with a thin coat of Bestial Brown over a grey or white undercoat, then overbrush that with my flesh mix adding more white until I am happy with the highlights then wash over all the skin with a very very thin glaze of Bestial Brown. The gold's easy, just Shining Gold, washed with a thin Brown and Chestnut ink mix, then highlight with SG, then Burnished Gold, and then mix a little Mithril Silver into the BG fr the very edges. Hope this helps? Thanks Bruenor

Nice work there . I really like the blue and the face. The mettalics could use more depth. If you paint tehm, take a Mettalics Coulor and then shade it eith differnt tones. Males them look real great.
