I'm stuck on doing the hands at the moment, and even after numerous tries, I still can't quite get them right. Has anyone got any tips?

Hi Matt, well, let's see if i can explain some tips, for example, imagine we are to sculpt a hand on a weapon. i use to create a squared "ball" of putty , for the palm on the weapon. when it's hardened, another ball of putty, big enough to catch the whole hand, give it a general shape of hand, no details yet. \ _|_|_|_ | .\.|...... . | , ...\|____ |, this is more or less an schematic plan, squared area for 4 fingers, and triangle is for the thumb, this triangle area has an angle of movement, to let the hand catch and hold things, be careful with this, best is looking to your hand holding something, you should have defined this before going with the fingers. Fingers: before cutting each finger, i like to define between phalanges and knuckles, to define them, just make a soft depression for phalanges, and the knuckle will raise itself, this will help you to define the length of the fingers, then define each finger, and repeat again depression +define now for each finger. until you get final shape. Hope it helps Edgar

I would recommend using thinner wire that way you can build a hand right onto the arm without attaching it separately which is very fiddly. Mash out the end of a wire with pliers and build a thin hand shape with brown stuff. Let it dry and apply a layer of green over it to indent the fingers in.

Thanks for all the tips. I'm hopefully going to get the hands done tonight.
