Great start to this mini, i particularly like the striping on the trousers.. one thing that caught my attention was that i thought the cow was a little too white & uniform, perhaps some tonal washes would help

Appreciate the time and effort you have gone to with all the information, it's always interesting to read/see how others work with colour,thanx

Ok, an update after a bit. The momentum has slowed a little, but no matter. Did some work on the dwarf, and a did the skin on his other leg.



TIMC: Thanks. I tend to do a lot better on the bigger projects then on the smaller ones...

Razhburz: Thanks. Skin is pretty much the same recipe as for the step by step on the dwarf, although I will more than likely go back in on this one with some washes when he gets closer to done.

jnr: thanks for the tip on the cow. I also plan to go back and highlight the black spots a bit, maybe bring them up with some browns or something. The running log on colors and stuff also helps me remember what colors I used in case I find a particular recipe that I really like.

Looking good mate, I particularly like the fresian cow hanging off his back, is the skin finished on his belly as there is a difference in shade there.

The mid section got a wash with red/blue/magenta concotion, not sure if I liked it so I thought I would make the decision as I got more done. Also, at this point I am not happy with the blending on the stomach, just something about it looks off to me.

This is coming along beautifully (hmmm, a beautiful giant ), the flesh is spot on and i can't tell the problem with the stomach from the pics.... but....the soul of his foot is spotless! just out of the bath maybe ;D

Ok, got the dwarf done (except I need to go back and do his toe nails and arms, oops) and started the wolf head.

I didn't see the wolf head untill now. I think you could highlight it a bit more but I think you said you ad just started on it ?

Definitely is going to come up a bit. Any advice on wolf heads? I have seen some that are amazing, with greys and browns and such blended in to look really nice, than I have seen the ones that are just monotone that look OK, but nothing to really write home about. Guess what I am asking is if anyone has a good recipe for wolfs, or wolfen, or werewolves, well you get the point.

I don't have any particular set recipe. I have a couple of suggestions--one is just taking a look at the studio paint jobs on the Rackham wolfen--they are always amazing and perhaps you could pick out a rough idea of what they used. If you look on the strip of cloth on the inside of the left leg, that is where the work was done. Also, did the leather strips tying the leg cloth together.

I got a suggestion though. The skin under the giants foot looks a bit too clean, as he is walking barefeet through the lands of the old world ;D Maybe make them a bit dirty?
