Golden Griffon is Norway's answer to Golden Demon. Last year I took 2nd place in the large scale category. I was really happy with last years result and I will enter this year too. I have two entries and one possible entry. My entries are: - Nurgle Champion - Warhammer Fantasy Single - Gorkamorka Ork Nob - Warhammer 40,000 Single - Grey Knight Justicar - Open Category I have made display bases for them, but they can not be used in the competition unless I enter them in the open category. Therefore I will enter a Grey Knight Justicar with display base in the open category. The minis are just held together with blue tac at the moment, I just opened them and wanted to share my ideas. Champion of Nurgle: Champion of Nurgle with display base: Gorkamorka Ork Nob: Gorkamorka Ork Nob with display base: Grey Knight Justicar: Grey Knight Justicar with display base:

Nice convo's I personally think that the bases are a little large for the minis but that thought may change as these develop. It is difficult to get the true feel until you see some paint on them.

The large bases are just for fun, and will only be used in my display cabinet. But I might enter the Grey Knight with a display base in the open category, but that is only if I have enough time after I have finished the other two entries.

Great selection of figs to paint with plenty of challenges to keep you interested... i like the nurgle champion best, there is a mountain of painting techniques you could play with on him, he is one figure i have always wanted (since seeing Jakobs version) but never got round to buying him convo makes a cool unique fig. . i'll post up my gg wip soon

I have drawn inspiration from the nurgle champ by JRN and the nurgle champ by Cyril Abati. I think I will do a combination of those two, it will be a real challenge for me and I get to practice my metals ;D

1st place? I don't think so, especially not because this year menace maybe will also be competing in the same categories as me. Me against menace? Anybody want to bet? I would be really really happy to make it among the top three, and to win gold would be just awesome. My goal in painting competitions is to win gold in Golden Griffon someday in the far future.......

I have finished modelling and undercoating the Nurgle Champion and the Ork Nob. The Nurgle cha, pion turned out quite different then what I had planned. I filed of the icons on his shoulder and added a pike. I am not so sure if I like the pike or not, and i might remove it. What do you think? The Ork Nob: The Nurgle Champion:

I personally don't like it, looks like a mushroom to me! I would also take 10mins filling all the recesses with watered doen black paint. It could make ALOT of difference when painting.

Now the fun part begins.... Yes indeed! I have been modelling for a long time now, and it felt so good to finally be able to paint again. I have started on the skin of the ork, and I hope to finish it by the end of next week.

I have been working on the skin of my ork nob lately and I am very pleased so far. I have been following Tim's tips on ork skin, and I am very happy with how it turned out. Thanks mate It is my second attempt at ork skin, and my first attempt at blending skin colours. Please tell me what could have been done different/better. I will appreciate some constructive critisism.5 I have one problem, I have used many layers of paint to get the blendings right and many laters of glazes. In the recesses the paint have started to crack some places. Is there a way to sort this out? Front: Back: (the pictures is lighter than it is irl) Closeup: Cheers

Nice work on the ork so far, a couple of muscles on the back look a little odd as the highlights seem to start late if you now what I mean but I like the way this is going.

Thanks mates ;D
I know what you mean. I will try to make the highlights start earlier. I am working on the mini right now (just having a short break). I am working on the hands and legs, maybe I'll finish them today and I'll post up some pictures.
Cheers
