Flawless as usual! Seems the glasses are doing their job, this mini is just as good as anything you did before.

Thanks for all you feedback he is now finished and in my Gallery so please feel free to take a look. There are things I could have done better but this is the first completed mini since I started having to wear glasses, this wasn't about quality but more about actually getting a mini finished and I achieved that so I am pleased. Thanks all.

I have started a Dwarf standard bearer from the Lotr range, I just picked up a load of these guys from lotrcrown and think I might start up a blog on a Khazad army, though don't expect me to be producing the same standard as these will be intended for gaming with.

Top notch work mate. What's next? *cough* CiN orks *cough*

Jabber yup the CiN Orks are definately on my to do list in fact I have one prepped undercoates and in the very early stage of skin tone work. But I couldn't resist going back to my roots so to speak. Lotr brought me into the hobby well over 25 years ago and it still drives me today so I recently aquired some Khazad Dhum Dwarves from a couple of O-R members and have decided to do a Dwarf army this is quite timely as the next supplement for Lotr SBG is going to be Khazad Dhum. This is what I achieved yesterday. There is alot of reflection from the metals I will fix that with dull coat when the mini is finished. As soon as the first of my Orks is at a level worht posting I will put that up too.

I have already commented this dware on O-R but its so good I can't resist to do it again I really like what it looks like so far and I look forward to see the whole army once finished BTW are you going to use GW's santa colour scheme?

Quite possibly as I kinda like it myself. I was thinking of doing the cloaks a darkish blue but I don't know for sure yet. This will be the test piece for the rest of the Dwarves.

Cool the Santa scheme is pretty nice but I prefer some more earthy colours (but this is your dwarf and not mine )

I think I will change the bases to resin ones but I have to order a load off Scott first.

I have done a bit more to the Dwarf today, coming along nicely now and I am getting the feel for lotr again so it is quite likely that iwill actually see this project through lol. Onto the cloak next, this is going to be the crucial part of the mini I think as it covers a large portion of it. I am going to try some freehand on the hem as well but don't be surprised if I end up giving up on that as that is still not my strong point.

Thats awesome mate I love the beard. The nose looks a bit odd, though. but thats probably just the sculpt

Post by Tim C on Mar 15, 2007 10:38:22 GMT
Yes it is the sculpt of the face inside the helmet is not very well defined also you have to try and paint the detail in what is quite a tight area, still I like the mini and at the end of the day when he is in amongst all his chums it won't be so noticeable.

Its because you paint all these LoTR fellas that your eyes packed in lol, the features on them are tiny! And even getting the eyes in requires a bottle of champagne for a celebration!

I duck out for a day and all of a sudden a new project.
Really great work so far, that beard is really good looking. No critiques at this point, can't wait to see more.

Didn't see this one before-it looks excellent! Shame about the mouth being no good for painting, maybe you got a miscast or something?
