I have got the standard bearer completed now apart from the base. I have been thinking about using resin bases for these minis but I may just do simple bases on the ones that they are already on as these will ultimately be for gaming with. I have also made a start on the Dwarf Captain. I looking forward to hearing your comments. ps Jabber I'll be putting up a WIP of the first of the Cin Orcs in the next few days but that will be in the CiN forums.

You call that TT standard? The only thing I don't like, is the banner tip in the first pic. The contrast seems a bit to stark. But I'm guessing that mainly due to the picture. Cheers, Wolf Fang

Great stuff Tim. I've never seen a dwarf beard painted in so much detail!

I really like the standard bearer, the little fella looks great. The captain is also very good so far. I reallly like how you painted the eyes of the standard bearer. I have tried painting eyes on LoTR minis, and it was driving me nuts ;D Will we be seeing a Dwarf army soon?

That is the plan to paint a whole army mate, it might take some time but I am hoping to do a Dwarf force of about 30 to 40 minis which should give me around 5 to 600 points worth of an army. Then I can just add to it as and when I like. Unfortunately the eyes on the captain were to undefined to be able to pick out with anything other than very dark brown slits.

Awesome as usual. You'll be sure to win all your games with them because the opponent will be distracted by the beautiful minis!
Have you ever considered going for a golden demon? I have a feeling you could win one...

I know many of the LoTR minis suffer from "bad eye sculpts". The best eye sculpt I have tried is the ones of Frodo from the Emyn Muil blister. But anyways, painting the eyes so perfect on such a small mini is a great accheivment ;D
I think you should try at the GD too. I think you might have a chance making it among the top three, especially with your orks which I think is your best.

Yay, my photobucket account has been down all day and I have been itching to post my latest WIP pics, now at last I can. I am quite close to finishing this one now, a few details left to do as well as the banding on the cloak, also in the photo I can see bits that need a little more work. Thanks for all your comments so far.

Excellent as usual, the banding on the cloak really makes a big difference so i'll be lookin' forward to the next installment. Just to agree about eyes, these have been the biggest single problem for me with lotr minis as the slightest imperfection ruins any chance of a convincing result and i think you have made the right choice for these little guys.

The cloaks are incredible. The red really looks like some sort of expensive, rich fabric.

Normally I post my Lotr WIP's on The One Ring site but today you guys got them first. I have finished the Captain apart from the base and will now be moving on to the regular troopers of the Khazad Guard. More updates soon.

Yes it is but there is nothing I can do to straighten it is cast as one piece and it is all joined to the rest of the mini, no possible way to straighten it I am afraid.

Amazing how a simple band can really bring out the cloak.... I know we can judge the size of this by the base but for those not into LOTR it migt be cool to have a measure in your WIP, then the attention to detail could be appreciated (just thinking out loud).... shame about the axe but i don't think it's that much of a problem.

I have just bought some bases form a kool supplier if they are as good as they look I will probably use those. Thanks for the links you posted by the way they are cool minis.

Here is the first of the regular dwarf troops, about half done it needs a little tidying up in places but I am pretty happy with him. It is difficult to switch off from display painting to gaming painting but I am getting there lol. I will start the next one some time today, plus I am also in the process of putting together UKFB's Tree Giant too.

Cheers guys, well this one is done and the next one is undercoated, so here is the finished Dwarf minus the base I think I might move this to the projects section and keep this for the work on other things I have planned. Watch out all I have the painting bug again.

If that's army standard, then the King lives. Now that's what a dwarf should look like. Anyway, could you tell me how you painted the skin on Varghar. I know it's some time ago, but if you can remember, could you tell me? Cheers, Wolf Fang
