Well I thought that Mutantpotatos thread was such a good idea that I ould do one of my own. Not alot of painting going on for reasons you know already but I am assembling the big guy ready for painting, it is slow going as there are alot of parts to fix and there is still some greenstuff wprk required as well.

Shouldn't we all them them in one place so the forums don't get clogged up? Anyway, fairly neat workspace Tim!

How tall is it? My Volgor looks about the same height, bout 95mm (110 tot he axe tip) and it took about 7hours to assemble, loads of double pinning and greenstuffing.

lol there is one Series & in there but it is well buried, I like to use fino brush 5/0's though I have just sourced a supplier of 7 and 10/0 brushes. Matty he is about 80mm from base to top of plume but there are weapons that fit to his back that will make him closer to 100/110 mm when finished.

Glad you liked my idea. I find these photos very interesting and I hope more members do things like this. So keep the pictures coming! ;D
That guy looks huge and really cool. He reminds me of the guy in your avatar. Thats not a miniature, thats a biggature (lol, I love that word, heard it from the Weta crew at the LOTR DVD special feature documentary.
I have a question about your palette. Do you mix paint on top of dried paint? I have seen people do this but if I try to mix paint atop of dried paint, the dried paint flakes mix into the wet paint.
And wow, you don't seem to be short of brushes ;D

I thought I would post a close up of Raum with a couple of minis nest to him, Sauron the Necromancer and one of mminiatures sculpts. I have undercoated the head thismorning as it is going to be best to paint that separately tomorrow I will make a start on the head once I have decided on a colour scheme, I think that metallics are going to be the order of the day on this guy. Also good news I had a phone call today to tell me that my glasses are ready for collection so first thing tomorrow I will go and pick them up and hopefully I will be back on form again.

A little more than a week so I thought I would put up a new shot. Not too much has gone on realy I have put some paint on the big guy and i am slowly getting used to the glasses. I have started an Empire standard bearer not too clear in this pic but I will put up a better picture as a WIP later.

Do you have no daylight in there Tim Just thinkin' that one wee light couldn't be helpin' the strain on your eyes... i have no daylight but i use a 500W halogen for ambient light and 2 X 20w Halogen spots for painting, i use this every day all day (in my practice) and it has cured the problems i had in my last studio... it was all flourescent light and i was suffering migraine after prolonged periods of painting on a fresh canvas, obviously the reflective light frequency was to harsh.... it's a good thing to have a more powerful ambient light source to protect your vision from constant change..ie...don't play the computer in the dark and don't paint minis under one light

There is light a plenty through the patio doors but the downside is the sun comes straight theough there and very often I have to shut the curtains to block it out, that one light is actually excellent for spreading a good amount of light evenly, it is a flourescent light too so there is no excessive heat either.

I'd love to get one of those 'daylight company' double flourescents but they are sooo very expensive here it is on the shopping list and should do wonders for my minis and photos.. maybe after summer....

It looks really cool. Do you know where to buy his stuff? I think I'll have to order some ;D And I notice some wooden sticks in your water. Is that something you use for paint mixing or is it just paintbrushes?

Hi mate I ordered directly from him on the One Ring site I think his website is still under construction at the moment. The sticks are what i use to stir up the paint in the pots.
