Beautiful piece of work! An excellent first piece for this project. Definitely setting a high standard for us to aim for!

Thanks lads.
@lotrcrown, not sure what you mean about the 'basing kit' - its 100% scratchbuilt from bits of balsa wood and polyfilla.
@tim, the wall is undercoated black (spray paint) and then I use Graveyard Earth for the base coat and Kommando Khaki and Bleached Bone for the drybrushing and highlights. I then add a thin wash of Brown Ink over the whole thing to tie it all together and add a lustre to the stone work. Then I pick out one or two stone blocks with more thinned Brown Ink to give a little variety to the colour.
You would no doubt do a much better job of the stonework, since I usually just drybrush it rather than blend in the highlights. So when you get it in your hands, feel free to fix up my shoddy paint job if you want. I'd much prefer the scene to work together as a whole instead of having two jarringly different techniques - your meticulous miniatures and my impressionistic terrain.

And you made that out of a piece of wood?! You are talented!
Can you do a toturial on how to paint ruins, or at least tell me the colours you use.

My minis would not detract form this masterpiece in anyway Alan. I have long held you in high esteem for the terrain works you do and that has risen even higher now. I am looking forward to seeing this in the flesh.

I got directed to the children in need work you are all doing and I must say it is great what you are all doing.
This base you have made is top notch in creation and painting, really good of you to do WIP pics as well.
Cheers James

Ahh! Where did the pictures go? I am fiddling with a diorama base and was looking to your wonderful piece for inspiration! Do you still have the pictures?

Sorry, I must have deleted them when I cleaned up my personal webspace a while ago. Tim has the piece in his possession now, so perhaps he could post some photos of it.

Yes I certainly will do that, as soon as I get the repair done to the part that came away in the posting of it I will photograph it and then put it up in here again. It is a superb piece far better in reality than the photos showed.
