I think the 3rd edition book was my first look at wargames miniatures, and I was hooked from there on. The artwork in this one was great, it seems sufficiently dark and grimy for 40K--even the good guys look pretty sinister. I think it would be cool if GW reflected this in their new minis, the dark angels seem too cheery for these illustrations. Anyway thanks for posting those, I haven't looked at them in years.

I got into this before 40K or indeed Rogue Trader as it was first called ever existed. I have watched the artwork develop over the years and the third edition is among the best. For me though the best art works were produced for the two Chaos source books Slaves to Darkness and the Lost and the Damned, these books go for a song on e-bay but even at those prices they are worth every penny and one day I will get around to replacing mine.
