The models of the death corps range is awesome, and so wonderfully sculpted. But somehow, the death corp models remind of the the nazi germans. And the nazi germans burned down half of Norway (and you of course know what else they did). So the whole death corp theme leaves a bad taste in my mouth The models is amazing, but it's unlikely that I will ever paint one ;D

I totally understand your feelings. I have studied the War and I know only too well what happened during that period. That said these are still great models, if you look throughout miniature production themes and ideas are drawn alot from history. I would like to think that these can be enjoyed for what they are and not for what they could be connected too. That didn't sound like I meant it too but I think you know what I mean.

OMG, the best i've seen from forgeworld, looks like my GK Dread is going to have to wait.
I understand the affiliation with Naziism, i think it has been used to exaggerate the menace in the minis, but not to cause affront... afterall they are an english company and who more competes with germany than the english.
War is a trade of humanity which will bring our ultimate destruction, look to indonesia as to the anti western culture, it is a breeding ground for the next human atrocity. I grew up with war in Belfast against the English occupation but i don't get offended by a Ski mask, i just hate terrorist b'stards, the mask just became a symbol of a much greater threat

Hope it doesn't sound like I hate these minis ;D These minis is definitely one of the best from forgeworld, and I think that the FW death korp minis is much better than many of the GW sculpts. The minis is absolutely awesome, but I would not be comfortable having these in my display cabinet and beeing reminded by the nazi's everytime I see them ;D But I totally understand that people will collect the DK range, cuz they're awesome and definitely well sculpted.
But if you think about it, the whole "Imperium" theme of WH40K is really connected to the nazi empire. Both the ideology and symbolism is freakishly close to the nazi's.

That is true, but if you have a strong symbolism to use as a resource then it is fair to say that it will be drawn on for inspiration. Alto of people could take afront on anything connected to the Roman Empire for the same reasons. The Romans ruled for centuries and people lived and died on the whim of the Ceasars. But I don't want to get into a debate about this sort of thing, I abhore what Nazis'm stand for as I do terrorism and extremism or basically anything that makes innocent people suffer for no better reason than someone says they don't belong or that they do not conform to their ideology. I served in the British Army and served in Northern Ireland and have seen up close and personal what this sort of thing can breed and I am glad that I no longer have to see this kind of thing. I will be buying some of these minis just because they look so good and that will be the only reason for buying them.

Its an interesting discussion here....
The German WW2 influence is obviously very heavy on the Death Korps minis, but if I bought them, I would paint them and think of them as the 'bad guys'....Maybe that doesn't fit into to well with the GW fluff....
Its sort of the same with alot of the Alt. WW2 minis I have. I have several heavily influenced Nazi minis...But I am not painting them to GLORIFY them, rather the opposite...they are the nemesis of my British and American forces.
Still, thats a very interesting line of thought, and one that hadn't occurred to me.
