Well the 7th edition is nearly upon us, will anyone be buying the new rulebook or even go for the whole boxed edition. I have been thinking about pre-ordering the ltd edition rulebook as that is a bit nice but it also has a speacial edition price tag too.

I'm really interested in finding out what they've changed... I've seen all sorts of rumored changes (some good, some bad). I hear Magic has been almost entirely revamped, but as I haven't seen it I can't really say. I'll probably pick up the new rule book when I get a chance... Not keen on spending alot of money on it but that's unavoidable. Which boxed edition are you talking about the current orc and empire one with the redemption deal, or the new battle for axe pass box? I know battle for axe pass only has a miniature rule book in it. I don't think I'll pick up the box as I'm not particularly fond of the goblin models (and I don't play dwarves). Then again it is a good deal, and I don't mind the spider rider models... I could always sell the dwarves...

Yeah I meant the battle for axe pass, also there are pre-orders on the new rulebooks one is the ltd edition book and the other is a deal which gives you the rule book in both full and condensed formats, also some new Warhammer markers and templates, a set of dice and a carry all at a price tag of £60.

I'm going to be painting a copy of the new battle for axe pass box set sometime soon (advance copy due to arrive eventually...) for the store I work in. I'm splitting it with another employee, and our goal is to get it done a within a week of recieving it. I'll definately be posting pictures as we progress through it.

Got my hands on the skull pass box a couple days ago and have just began prepping the models. It's a great set. The one peices are actually very nice quality, and the mold lines are very minimal and easy to remove. The multi piece models require a bit of gap filling though (mainly the troll, but some of the others too). Lots of great details and all in all a fantastic deal. The only issues some might have are the unit sizes for the dwarfs (12 warriors, and 8 miners). I definately suggest picking this up if you're planning on doing anything with dwarfs or goblins, or if you don't want to spend $75 on the new rule book you can spend $75 on this box and get a miniature rule book and over 100 miniatures, dice and other bits and bobs.

We got a large GW shipping at work the other day. I spent lot of time looking at the new rulebook. It looks amazing, but I don't play WFB so I can't really say anything rulewise. It looks awesome though, lots of nice pictures. The new battle for skull pass box looks good too, I think you get lots of good minis for not a bad price ;D I might even buy it, the night goblins looks amazing.

It raises some interesting questions about the future of GW minis I think. Obviously there are tons of new platic minis, some of which look as good as metal. GW has stated that it is moving all minis to plastic eventually, with only the odd piece here or there in metal. I wonder if they will begin to sell plastic blister packs? Will sets of plastic minis have to include heroes becuase they will be the same cost to produce? Looking at the new orc figures, I'd say they have a lot to be desired, as do the new night gob heroes. It looks to me like GW is stretching plastic figure making technology to its limits--many of these character sculpts have none of the trademarks of plastic minis, like being very linear for easy casting--so I think that these minis, while not as good as I would excpect from GW, represent a transition period for GW as they go into all plastic figures. I think the quality will greatly improve in a few months or years when the sculptors and casters are used to sculpting "characterful" plastic figs. Just my two cents.

Well I am decided, I have been painting the free Goblin from White Dwarf and after my inital "well these are crap minis" thought I have now re-evaluated them. So tomorrow I will be going to GW and buying the Battle For Skull Pass box with the intention of getting my daughters and son into the world of Warhammer.

Good to hear that Tim. I've played a couple games straight from that box and I have to say that they were all a blast. At 500pts there is enough there to put in some strategy and they games don't last too long.

I got the Skull Pass box as well as the hardback rulebook.
no big changes, you can fined what has changed easily on line. the Skullpass box is pretty good, for the price at least. got tired of playing such small games though so we just put the dwarfs with my High Elves and the gobos with my dad's Ogre Kingdoms and play like that. The Box is definitely the way to go if you don't relay want all of the extra background stuff in the Hardback version of the book.

Thought I'd bump this thread with some insight into the skull pass. It's an excellent box set especially for new gamers. It has enough to get you started & the figures are of a reasonable quality. My 8 year old wanted to start a gobbo army - perfect.
Some of the joins in the Troll were a bit suspect but they can be filled & remoulded as necessary. Some of the dwarves come as a single casting & this has the usual effect of filler material.
But for a beginner as I said before a good buy - recommended
