Tim - I couldn't wish for it to go to a better home than yourself as I'd love to see it painted up really nice. But I m gonna have to ebay it I'm afraid as a few people have expressed interest. But don't worry I will post the link when its up. Im hoping to get enough money so i can buy some more sculpey (super and firm packs) and a pasta machine which I'll be using for rolling out things like belts etc.
This bust was probably around 15 hours or so of work, not sure as I forgot to time myself. It used alot of sculpey because it is solid, not bulked out with foil like many people do. That skin texture was a real swine to do and I won't be doing another lizardman in a hurry lol. I will be taking some more pics for CMON and then I will do the ebay listing and then a featured auction on cmon so keep your eyes peeled.
I am really enjoying sculpting at the moment. The larger scale that I am working in is allowing me the freedom to get the accuracy and play with texture more. I think I will be tackling quite a few project ideas with this super sculpey stuff! So my ideas are as follows:
1-- Empire Wizard/Necromancer bust 2-- Pirate Bust 3-- Giant (really keen to do this one!) 4--Chaos monster 5--More water jars, featuring simple logos and icons.
Any other ideas let me know what you think. I d like to do some stuff that I could cast and sell , particularly monsters that can be used in various tabletop as well as warhammer games. I would love to see something I made painted up really nice , so getting it out there to alot of people would be a great achievement for me. We'll see how it all goes.

Nice work on both things.
I think the water jars would be a good line to work on, I know I'd buy a couple!!

Cool when the link goes up I will certainly try for it, as for another project I'd go for the giant especially as it is something you really "want" to do.

Ok guys, could anyone give me some clue to the size of the forgeworld busts in mm. These jars I ve done are pretty huge in comparison and I want to try something the same size as those warhammer jobbies.
Bru - If you want to throw out your old water jar and get yourself a shiny new designer one, PM and we can work something out, even if its something simple. I have one commission lined up, I could squeeze in one more if its fairly simple!

OK, here's the latest creation. A Nurgle water jar commission. Took me 3 hours to do, 2 1/2 hours to sculpt - its only a small one this. This is based on a picture from Elfwood, here.... images.elfwood.com/art/k/e/keane/nurgthng.jpg.

Very cool on both of them.
How do you cure he Scuply, off the jars or on, as I know it a bake it in the oven curer? Plus do you find it's slightly brittle at the edges?
I ask as when I've used it in the past, it's been slightly brittle near the egdes and thinner parts.

Thanks for the vote Jabberwocky. Bruenor, the sculpey is brittle stuff but overall I am happy with it. All of my sculpts so far have been solid sculpey - no bulking out with foil so they are quite solid. Some detail edge lines bake strangely even though they look great before baking. i find sometimes the wrinkles for example look a little too sharp after baking despite softening the detailing by brushing lightly over them. I will be brushing sculpey softener on next time to try and remedy this. The sculpey is on the jar before baking, the jar survives fine! The goblin brushpot is now on CMON and you can vote here: www.coolminiornot.com/212121

great work on these! The texturing on the skin is really impressive. I've just sculpted a little bust in super sculpey and I couldn't imagine getting that sort of fine detail. Nicely done

Cool mate, thanks for clearing that up, just might have to commission you for a couple of small jars, dwarven style. (I have one for colour and one for metallics, hate to mix them)

Thats no problem Bruenor, I will be ordering some more sculpey soon when its in I can do some more. I only have a little left, possibly enough for one more! I do fancy doing a dwarf - i did like that dwarf bust that GW had a while back. It will allow me to practice hair ( alot trickier to do in sculpey when compared to the ease of sculpting hair in green stuff), plaits and ferocious expressions lol.
mminiatures - I m sure if you can sculpt those little guys you do you can sculpt a good detailed bust!
I will be sharing a quick and easy sculpey texturing tutorial soon aimed at people just starting out. Its real easy and anyone can do it with even a cheap block of fimo from your local art store. Look out for it, but it's not complicated or anything to step back in amazement about so don't get too excited.

Ok, here are some final photos for these guys..... These views didnt quite make it to the PC last time as my batteries died just as I was transferring them, so here they are now. And here is the finished Lizardman Photo. I will hopefully be adding it to ebay tonight so a link will follow Tim and anyone else who might like it. This guy is on CMON now if you want to vote... www.coolminiornot.com/213317Here's the link for the lizardman on ebay. cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160314837887

Holy shit! Just looked at the lizardman dude and realised he has no ears!Do lizards have ears? Come to think of it I'm not sure that they do! Too late now anyway. He is a deaf lizardman, or they got chopped off in battle or some such fluff.
Tim - I will remind you to bid dont worry! I have a parcel waiting for me at the PO and it should be my next lot of sculpey and the pasta machine to roll it into sheets with so I will be needing to pay for it.....
