Hmm I'm not sure if this is the right forum (and I call myself a moderator. bah) Anyway I thought it might be good to have a post where everyone post a pic of thier finished mini(s) from the exchange Cheers, André

I have been working on a couple of my minis from Mick. One has some paint on him, the other is all primered and prepped, and two others are prepped.

Mine still has to be primed. My drill bitz broke recently and I can't pin any models atm. Cheers, Mil

I have been working on the super-secret mini from Mick; a few of you have seen the WIP's, but since I was doing it for the step by step, I wasn't sure if it should be up for public consumption until it was finished and the article completed.

I suppose I could post up a WiP. Here we are, a little bit of modification to avoid a double post. Early WiP.

Right you guys, I got the mini finished last weekend. I was trying to add a warpy purple to most of the colours to represent working the the force of the warp. I am happy enough with how it worked out, my skills not stretching to the white of the trousers though. C&C as usual appreciated. Now everyone else needs to get their finger out!

Nice work mate. This project never seemed to get going so hopefully seeing a completed mini will change that. I have mine ready to go but since finishing Leonidas I have been so busy with work I simply have not had chance to get any real painting done, either that or I have been so tired that I would only make a mess if I did anything anyway.

I got new photo's put up, they are a lot clearer now, but they still have a tinge of yellow about them. I've blamed it on my fluorescent lamp, so I've taken the big step of investing in a daylight lamp. Hopefully that will sort it out.
Thanks for the tips on the other topics Tim. I will do that soon. Can I ask though what is your perfered method for highlighting black?

Post by Tim C on Jul 31, 2007 13:43:33 GMT
I highlight black this way, Over a black undercoat I will mix a tiny amount of Codex Grey into Chaos Black, this I then paint over the black area so that it looks black but when the subsequent highlights are applied the stages don't look so stark as if you painted over a pure black base colour. I keep then adding more codex grey into black and then just keep highlighting until I have pure Codex Grey. The highlight areas get smaller each stage. Finally on the sharpest points I highlight very carefully with pure White, this gives the impression of shine.

This is Mick's Revenant from his undersea line over at EFS. It is very early on (pretty much just basecoated with some lining on the skin), but I wanted to block in the colors, since they were so unusual for me. I'll be darkening and dulling the colors to fit with the dark nature of the Revenant, which I pictured as a grim reaper of the murky depths. Not looking for too much critique wise (but I'll take it if you got it), just wanted to let everyone know I hadn't forgot about the exchange.
