I think a nice display base would increase the value of the squad, so I would be for it.

So is it decided on Ork commandos? I may ask for some for Christmas from the family (if I can resist the temptation to buy them myself before then ;D).

I wasn't sure which game system to do one for wach system would be cool and would maybe increase the proceeds for the charity, but for now I think we will stick with the Orks for 40k namely the commando's and see how we get on. The display base is a very good idea and I think that I will get LOTRCROWN on the case for that as he has made some nice display plinths in the past. We will need to discuss the size of the plinth required.

The new commando boxed set is five minis, and we will be more than that. My suggestion is that we do the five minis in the commando set, and add some ork nobz and other ork minis that look good. We could do a mixed warband of orks with a warboss, banner bearer, nobz, commandos, nobz in heavy armour, slugga boyz etc....
If we just do ork commandos we have to multiply the new commando set at least twice, and then it will be two of each mini. If we do a warband we can have all aorts of different minis.....

You can also get the Kommandos in blisters Mikkel I think. Charlie I will get a pic up of the minis tomorrow. Getting the minis is no problem, I will do a mail order soon, so then I will order the minis that I need. My concern is that we are more than five people joining, and there are only five different commando minis (plus burna and big shoota). If we only are painting commandos, and if we are more than seven people joining we will have to do at least one mini twice, and that don't look so appealing. I think that every mini should be unique, and if we are more than seven people I suggest adding some nobz instead of having a commando mini twice. Example: Ten people join, then we paint all the seven commandos and add three nobz.

Mmm I see your point, at the momnet though the small number of people we have should mean that the Kommandos should work, if more people do come aboard we can always add different squads ie Burna Boyz, Storm Boyz that sort of thing, all units need only 5 minis to make them legal so it shouldn't be too hard to adapt if we need to. Plus there are things like Killa Kanz, Mega Armoured Orks so we should be able to adapt this fairly easily, I am going to buy the Kommandos set tomorrow and I think I will take the boss mini for my contribution, I will also then send one to Suladan as he is too tight to spend a fiver on a mini for charity

Mmm we need to keep the squad looking fairly cohesive, that is a Gorka Morka mini realy and I am not so sure that the pose and look of that mini is going to help to achieve that. I will post A list I think of peolple that have pledged their time and then I think I will have a good look through the 40K Ork range and give a couple of options as well as the Kommandos. If we want to diversify the look and maybe do a larger theme ie two to three squads that will mean that some of us will have to do more than one mini, I have no problem with that as I can find plenty of painting time but I need to know what others are prepared to do. Also we will need to keep this as a usable force in 40K so some adherence to the codex is going to be needed. I will post the list of people in a little while after I have done a couple of things.

I don't really like the new commandos, I hope that there is some other ork I can do. I don't think I can do two minis, I have two army projects, the mini for the ork competition and two other minis for a competition early next year.

Unless I am mistaken, these miniatures are for Christmas '07, right? I could probably do more than one. If it is for Christmas this year, then I am already WAY behind! ;D

No this is intended to be completed and the auction held by the time next years Children In Need in held. I think that should give us plenty of time to get the project done.

Sorry for the double post but here is a list of members that have offered to take part in this,
Tim C (I can paint however many required) Racssirt Mutantpotato Menace Jabberwocky Razhburz Suladan Mattofmirkwood Erunion
Each of you has signed up to paint at least one mini, if you can paint more than one then please say so. Remember this is planned for Children In Need 07[/u][/color] so there is plenty of time to get this done. Now there are 9 of us that have said they will take part so we need to think a little bigger, I still think that the Kommando Squad is good and if necessary I will paint the whole set, that then leaves eight of you to paint what two more squads, that would be cool but it would mean that one or two people would have to paint more than one mini. So I suggest we look into the Codex Orks and see what we can come up with for a legal 40K skirmish squad and then pic the other models accordingly. So please feel free to check out the ranges and give me your thoughts, and if anyone has the Ork Codex the can you please do a little research other wise I will have to go and buy it and do that too.
