@ RogueTrader : If you just looking to read Fantasy novels... I would Highly Recommend The Malus DarkBlade books. They have all been extremely amusing and they are just a great read. I have convinced others that no nothing about Warhammer or fantasy to read these books and they all love them. Or I would also suggest the Gortrek & Felix novels, these are just a great read, really get in depth with these two chr and the world they travel in. Lastly i would also mention the Von Carstein books are a Great read as well. I still haven't finished the whole of the second book but they can seem a bit slow at first then they pick up the pace.
@ Razhburz : For Chaos books, i would read the Mark of Chaos , yes it is based off of the game but it still a great read. there are others such as Deaths Legacy , The Corrupted , Deaths City just to name a few. What i have noticed is that BL has a hard time conveying what it would like to be a Chaos Warrior , or skaven, or anything that isn't Darkelf, Human, Dwarf. Still they are good reads all the same.
as for Empire i would go ahead and start with The Ambassador Chronicles , that was a very nice read for me. there are other books out there like Vermintide, The Konrad Saga , Keepers of the Flame , Savage City , Swords of the Empire , & Ursun's Teeth also give a great read into the workings and life of the Empire.
Thats all i can think of right now. AW

The only BL books I have ever read were the Last Chancers novels and they were pretty good actually. I keep meaning to read one or two more but haven't got around to it just yet. Dan Abnett though is an author to watch out for. I have heard his books are fantastic.

Yah as Tim says Dan Abnett is a great writer, he co writes the Malus Darkblade books, also he writes the Eisenhorn Novels, all of the Gaunts Ghosts novels... He is just a Fantastic writer... like i said before if you want a great book or 4 go with the Malus Darkblade books... they are simply wonderful read... Humon, Bloodshead, malice, hatred, deception, You just have to read them...
Cheers AW

I would recommend the Gotrek and Felix books, Iv read the first six books and they are great. Loads of different races and characters get involved. There are some really booorrring bits to read, but I just slogged through them, it was worth it.
I bought The Founding by Dan Abnett yesterday, an omnibus of the first three Gaunts Ghost books, and its bloody fantastic. I know its sci-fi and not fantasy, but Im enjoying it more than when I read G&F.
Plus, they do an Empire omnibus, i can't remember then name, but I noticed it in Waterstones yesterday.

Im really enjoying first and only, its a great book. I have a signed (go me) horus rising that I am planning to take on holiday at the end of the month and read it then.
Isn't the horus series a quad? not a trilogy?
